summer of 5th year
.
Upon the realization that Sirius didn't know anything about muggles, James and Remus, sometimes Peter, vowed to teach them all they could in the time span of the month they had left of summer. This included muggles games, movies, recipes and music.
That's what led to the current moment.
Sirius' head laid in Remus' lapz his eyes were half closed but he attempted to keep them open. He wore Remus' dark orange jumper, seeing as he left the majority of his clothes in Grimmauld Place.
Remus had his hands tangled in Sirius' hair, playing with it and twisting into little braids. His hair was slightly messy and he wore a dark blue jumper.
James leaned against the coach, feet propped up on Peter's legs. He wore a gryffindor hoodie which was worn out but he didn't really care.
Peter sat with his legs crossed and a bowl of popcorn in his lap. Everyone and a while, he would feed one to Sirius, who was right next to him.
In front of them, a TV played 101 dalmatians.
Sirius would gasp whenever Cruella would say something bad about the dogs, and at one point, Peter was at the verge of tears.
"Remus," Sirius said when the movie was over.
Remus looked down to see Sirius looking at him worriedly with his gray eyes, "Yeah Siri?"
"Do they actually try to do that in the muggle world," Sirius asked.
"They used to, but not anymore."
Remus could have laughed when Sirius let out a breath of relief.
"I'm fucking tired," Sirius groaned, turning away from the TV and digging his face into Remus' stomach.
"Maybe if you slept at night, that wouldn't be a problem," Remus joked.
Sirius glared at him, "That's not funny. You know why I can't sleep."
At first, Remus thought he was joking back, but realized by the genuine frown on his face that he really was upset. Remus tried to ignore James' odd looks.
"You're right, sorry Pads. You can go to sleep if you want."
"Mk."
And that was all it took for snores to fill the room.
"I should probably go, my parents wanted me home like, thirty minutes ago," Peter laughed, grabbing a handful of floo powder and flooing home.
"Why can't he sleep," James said immediately after the green flames left his fireplace.
"It's not my place to tell you, James. You know how Sirius gets about privacy."
"But- but you have to tell me. He's like my brother, at least tell me a bit," James pleaded.
"He's just been having nightmares. I won't tell you what they're about, but he's scared to go to sleep."
James groaned, "I'm gonna beat the fuck out of the bitches when I see them."
"I'll join," Remus said darkly. "I'm sure Mia and Monty will as well."
The two boys sat in silence for a moment, just the sound of a dozen crows flying by, until James spoke up.
"It's not fair," James stated. "We sat in our perfect little house, while he was being beaten and tortured."
"We played games and quidditch while he was being screamed at by the people who are supposed to love him the most."
"We just let him. I mean, I didn't know the entirety of the situation, but I knew they were assholes and I didn't even do anything about it "
"I know, but we can't blame ourselves. It's those motherfuckers fault, not ours," Remus said.
"And," the sandy-haired boy continued. "It'll all work out in the end. Everyone will get what they want. Fair and square.
