I checked the time, and I still had a lot of time to kill. I don't want to go to that house too early. Anywhere would be better than there, anyway.

Hmm.

I guess I did say that I should make use of the time I have before the world knows about abilities.

Shouldn't I try to test them out?

I decided to walk to the playground near my house, again. I remember I spent a lot of time there, even in my past reiterations. Guess some things never change.

While walking, I look up to see what Xarrus's ability was again.

After looking through the contents of it, I realize that other than making me stronger than usual, it can help me heal from fatal injuries.

I touch my cheek to see the injury from yesterday. It seems that it won't heal small injuries like these. I don't know if I should be glad, or not, since it would be annoying if that bright light kept appearing. It would also be hard to activate my main ability.

I wonder how far it'll go to heal my injuries though. It was able to heal a knife wound.

...

I stop as I reach the playground. There isn't anybody around, the silence deathly eerie. A sudden thought makes me have a bad feeling.

I don't really want to do this... but it'll be the best method...

As they say, experimentation is the best way of finding out limitations.

"Save."

I open up the log and save again.

I'll be using this file a lot today...

...

Falling onto my back, I laid down on the glassy onyx floor. The familiar abyss that I've spent many years loitering in.

Hahhhh....

I'm sure I spent a day on this already, but time didn't really move since I'm just going to be going back...

Anyway! I've just tried many different ways to die! Some were quick and some were horribly painful. No matter how much I've died over the years, I hate bleeding out and suffocating the most!

However, I was luckily able to find some interesting information about my new ability.

I think there's a threshold for how fatal the wound can be. It can't be a light wound, like a paper cut, or it won't heal. It also can't be an extremely heavy wound, like being hit by a car or being disemboweled. So, currently, it seems only injuries caused by being stabbed or impaled can be healed. When it comes to things like suffocation, I also can't be saved, but that makes sense. I also immediately die if my head is targeted. I'm guessing that it's because I die instantly then.

Even so, this is only a small portion of the ability. It did also say that I can unlock more of it, so I might be able to have an invincible body one day!

That sounds great and all, but I don't know if I really have a use for it...

I mean, I don't really have to worry about actually dying, anyway.

However, it still increases my strength, and the healing ability was pretty helpful earlier. Unless I get other abilities that can match this, I guess I'll have to deal with that old geezer for a while...

I sit up and look at the save files in front of me.

Realizing that I still have to kill a bunch of time before going home, I sigh to myself.

I did many things today, but why do I feel like I've accomplished nothing...

Crying in my heart, I loaded the save file again...

...

Appearing at the playground once again, I decided to test my strength first. Considering that I have the power of an underweight 1o year old, I'm not sure how powerful I'll really be.

Standing in front of a tree, I looked around to see if there was anyone near me. Seeing as there weren't any witnesses, I took a deep breath. If this doesn't work, my hands are gonna really hurt!

Standing in a fighting stance, I wind my right arm back and thrust forward with as much force as I can!

BAMM!!!

...

"OWW!!! FUCKK!!!!"

Clutching onto my clenched fist, I fall to the ground, writhing in pain! I can see some splinters and cuts on the point of impact! It's not bleeding a lot, but it's definitely red!

Fuck! Wasn't that supposed to be the cool moment where the main character levels a tree with just one punch?! What was that?!

I suddenly heard the blip from the system messages.

[incoming message!]

Lord Xarrus looks at the inheritor pitifully and confused, questioning the inheritor's intentions.

Shut up old man!

I close the system window as I use my nails to get most of the noticeable splinters out, but for the rest I'll have to get out with tweezers back at home. Gonna hurt and sting like hell though!

I looked up finally and saw that it seems my pain didn't go in vain though!

The tree from earlier, although it didn't fall nor get leveled out like I was hoping it to do, there is a distinct mark from my fist! The bark and first layers of wood were crushed as I saw the indentations I had left!

Okay! That's more like it!

However, the stinging pain in my fist didn't think it was worth it.

Either way, my strength had definitely increased!

At my current level, I'm stronger than the average male, I'm pretty sure? Nothing at a godly level, but this was the first stage of it apparently.

Right now, I have the body of a weak 10 year old. I'll definitely be stronger as I grow up!

Now then, I should check something else with this.

I dig into my pockets and pull out the blade I had taken from those delinquents from earlier. It's pretty small so it'll be easy to hide, and having a self defense tool will always be good.

Anyway, I need to see if my strength transfers to the weapon as well. Wouldn't it be awesome if I could just slice this tree in half?! I wouldn't have to worry about spending a bunch of money nor time to get super strong weapons!

I ignore the message of the old geezer looking at me questioningly. It's your fault I have to experiment like this! Explain your powers better!

Breathing in I grasped the switchblade and swung it across from me, at the tree!

"Swoosh!"

"..."

[urgent message!]

Lord Xarrus sends the message:

"..."

...

I feel my face turn red as nothing happened at all.

I have the urge to hide my face, as I hope the only person that saw was Xarrus.

Okay, the experiment was a failure.

Nobody saw anything.

Be quiet.
