There were a lot of people at the Coast Guard reporting people missing, dogs missing, damage and lost items. I knew straight away they would want to listen to a bunch of kids from the cut, however John B, JJ and I went inside to try and get someone's attention.
John B went to one side of the counter and JJ and I went to the other side.
"Excuse me" I said to the man behind the desk
"Hey, man we, we found a boat" John B said trying to be heard over the lady talking about her lost dog
"JJ leave it" I said to JJ seeing him fiddling with the pens on the desk, knowing he wanted to steal it, he just raised his eyebrow at me as if to say he wasn't doing anything.
"Your boat? We're not worried about your boat right now, okay?" The man said to John B
"Give me" I said, putting my hand out to JJ before we left.
"It's free anyway, Sav" he said while putting the pen in my hand. I put it back in the pen holder and then went to follow John B out when I saw JJ grab the pen again and just give me a cheeky smile as he followed me.
"So, what's the plan?" I asked my brother
"I know how we're gonna find the guy who owns that boat" He said holding up the motel key.
"We don't know whose room that is. It could be anyones" Pope said clearly not liking the plan
"I'm in. Come on. I'll be lookout" Kie says as John B throws her the motel key
"Finders fee, just saying" John B called out to Pope "And hey, at least you'll only be an accomplice" He said while walking away back to the boat.
"Come on, bubba" I said, putting my arm around a hesitant Pope.
We pulled up to the Motel and it was an absolute mess. I think it was a run down mess before the storm but Agatha has made it look a thousand times worse.
"I thought the Chateau looked bad" JJ said pulling a face at the motel
"Dude, that's my house" I said to JJ "But you're right, this place is a shit show" I said looking at the motel in front of us
"Motel or meth lab" Kie said with a questioning face
"You be the judge" Pope said to Kie
"Doesn't look like a place somebody with a Grady White stays" John B questions
"No but it looks like a place somebody with a Grady White would get killed" All of us look over at Pope shocked
"That's reassuring, thanks Pope" I said sarcastically
"This is your captain speaking. HMS Pogue coming in for landing" JJ said, jumping off the boat to secure the ropes. I jumped off the boat after him ready to go and check out this motel room.
"Sav, don't let them do anything stupid" Pope calls out to me pointing at the two boys
"Oh we will" JJ says as he stands beside me
"I'm not making promises" I said to Pope, knowing they will probably do something stupid.
"Be careful" Kie says to John B "I mean it"
"Someones got a crush" I said to JJ motioning towards Kie and John B.
"Those two are definitely going to hook up" JJ said, making me laugh earning a glare from John B who knew we were talking about him.
"Why are all these mattresses out?" John B said trying to change the topic
"I don't know but they are disgusting" I said pulling a face at the mouldy mattresses
