Aaron Hotchner x Reader

Lying in bed with my boss I thought back on how I found myself in this situation. Stuck in isolation with my boss and his kid, which honestly wasn't so bad because I've been babysitting Jack for a few years now. No, the bad part is that I may have the slightest (biggest) crush on my boss, Aaron Hotchner. When he first employed me he scared me half to death, with that brooding stare and his strictness but then I got to know him. When that happened I realised that he put on that facade in order to protect his family, which was honestly what made me start to see him in a different light.

Anyway, back onto how I found myself in this situation. It all started when Hotch was called up to a case in Florida, he had naturally called me like he always did and left for the case once I arrived at his. He was away with the team for a week and a half before phone pinged to let me know that he was on his way home, sending a quick text back I quickly set about tidying up the flat for his arrival. Nearly an hour later he arrived home and only a couple of minutes later both of our phones pinged. Quickly pulling out my phone I nearly groaned when I saw the close contact text from the government and when I saw Aaron's face I could see how apologetic he looked.

"I'm so sorry y/n, I've put you in this situation and it's not fair to you." He said quickly and I smiled as I took hold of one of his hands.

"Aaron, it's fine. We both knew that there was a chance that this could happen and we still took it. Don't beat yourself up for something that neither of us could have predicted." I told him in a reassuring manner, squeezing his hand and he smiled at me in return.

"Where's Jack? I thought he'd come running through here by now." He asked me and I sighed.

"He's picked up a stomach bug from his class, he's been asleep for about an hour and a half now honestly Aaron." I told him and he sighed but nodded in understanding. "Give me your go bag and I'll get everything washed for you, ready to go back after our isolation period is up." I said and he gave me his bag with an enquiring look on his face. Heading into the kitchen I quickly load the dirty clothes into the washing machine and set it on for an hour wash before starting to work on the dishes that had stacked up from breakfast and lunch.

"You know I've wanted to ask you for a while now how you're so easy going with all of this. You always drop whatever your doing to come look after Jack for me and you always understand why I have to be away for so long. How is it that you can cope so well with the upheaval?" He asked as he grabbed a dish towel to dry the dishes after I wash them and I shrugged.

"Dad was in the military and mum was never around, too busy whoring herself out. If dad was called out to base late at night I was asked to look after the younger kids, it was my role as the eldest." I told him honestly and looked over at him. "I remember one time dad was called out to the base just after dinner and he looked so apologetic because we had planned to put the kids to bed and have a movie night, just us two. I told him to go do what he needed to do and he did, turned out what he had to deal with was my mother getting arrested by the MPs for whoring herself to the governor." I recounted with a sad chuckle and Aaron bumped my hip making me laugh.

"Sounds like a hard childhood y/n." Aaron said quietly but I quickly shook my head.

"Not really, living near the base was kinda cool honestly. I got on first name basis with most of the soldiers and whenever I needed a break there was always someone there offering to help." I said before turning to look at him fully. "The point that I was trying to make is that I'm used to people being gone for long periods of time and I'm also used to caring for kids. Honestly, I love watching Jack. He loves the living daylight out of you Aaron, your his hero and honestly he's the most amazing kid who can brighten the darkest of days." I told him and he smiled as he moved slightly closer to me but before anything could be said or done Jack trudged into the kitchen and blindly hugged my legs. Bending down I lift him into my arms and let him burrow his head into my neck as I stroked his hair lightly.
