Writing a conversation between six people and to have as a result something that sounds natural and fluid it's so fucking hard.

I swear I rewrote this like fifteen times.

You've waited for this chapter for so so long. It's finally here!

Hope it reaches your expectations.

Love you all.

SIXTEEN / DELICATE

[ Gemma's POV ]
Doncaster.

It was almost unbelievable to finally see him there, an arm reach, but not being able to hug him.

He was being shielded by Louis, who was continuously trying to soothe him.

Not me, nor Liam, nor Niall, nor even my mom knew what to say the second we saw him.

He wasn't the Harry we remembered. This Harry looked… fragile, delicate, almost breakable.

Louis sat with Harry on the couch in front of ours, hugging him closer to his chest. Louis looked at me and nodded, motioning me to start, but I just couldn't.
I couldn't breathe, I couldn't speak or move. It was like all the oxygen in the room had vanished.

Harry was looking at us with some kind of fear and a slight tremble in his hands as he clung to Louis.

"Harry, love." - Louis started with a calm tone. - "Let me introduce you to them."

And just like that I felt my whole world crumble.
He seriously didn't know who we were.

It wasn't some twisted joke, it was true.

Harry nodded, still not very convinced about us, looking particularly at my mother, our mother.

"I'm Anne, Harry. Your mom."

Harry looked shocked for a second, as if his breathing just stopped. His shoulders tensed and he separated from Louis.

"You promised." - He said, turning to Louis.

"I know angel. I'm sorry. But they are your family, yeah? They have been looking for you."

"But I didn't want to find them! Louis, you promised!" - Harry yelled while shaking and looking at the four of us in despise.

"Harry, please." - I said, finally finding my voice. - "Please let us talk to you, please listen to us. We've missed you so much."

"I can't!" - He said curling up against Louis again, facing away from us.

Louis wrapped him in his arms and whispered something to him.
They kept a hushed conversation I didn't quite get and then Harry visibly calmed down.

"I can listen." - He mumbled, tilting his head a little so he could look at us.

We all sighed in relief.

"H… I know what you're going through." - Niall spoke up. - "I bet you remember I was with you, right? I was with you when it happened." - He sobbed, looking at Harry with a painful expression. Of course he's touched, they shared the most horrible experience in their lives. - "I know maybe you don't remember things clearly. But you know who I am. You recognize my face. I can tell you recognize us all. We can help you remember it all." - He said, standing up from the sofa and walking towards him.

"Don't touch me." - Harry said to him, making Niall stop in his tracks.

"Okay." - He knelt down on the floor, a bit closer to Harry but without touching him. - "I believe, Harry. That you're scared because you don't have control of the things you remember. And that's fine because that's what we are here for. I'm Niall. I'm your best friend." - Niall smiled hopefully. - "You surely remember that. Or at least something."
