SERENA CLOSED HER EYES, allowing the sun to properly shine on her face as she tried her best to settle her chaotic mind. She could feel her friend's piercing gaze resting on the frown that, despite her best efforts to hide, she couldn't quite shake.

She would never tell him aloud, but Loki was right, she was bothered by her thoughts. They kept swirling around and mixing until blending into one continuous string that strung her along throughout the day, making it hard for her to enjoy the afternoon tailored to her happiness.

The word 'Dragonborn' flashed past her lids and she snapped them open. What was it? Who was it? When was it? Serena demanded to know, her determination to hold that little piece of paper in her hands at an all-time high. Whether she had to pry it from the sniveling god's cold, dead body, or, much more preferably, pluck it from his very much alive hands, she'd obtain the entirety of the note even if it killed her.

From beside her, Loki huffed an aggravated breath, flopping down on his back as well as though accepting defeat. He tilted his head to the side and tried to meet her perplexing gaze though was swiftly rejected the second their eyes connected by Serena jerking her head back towards the sky.

They were much too close to look at one another.

"You have worn the same perturbed look ever since we sat down, you can just tell me if you are upset with me, Serena." The prince muttered candidly, speaking sternly as thought bitter his surprise wasn't landing him where he thought he'd be. Loki had expected glowing smiles, not despondent sighs.

Loki's mind briefly drifted to his brother's words from earlier that day; Having an epiphany, Loki? The snaring voice of Thor teased viperously at the back of his mind as he wondered if perhaps he was boring her?

He was probably so blind he hadn't even noticed her losing interest in him throughout the day. Talking about his childhood, boring her with meaningless stories. She probably wished she was back with her handmaiden, sewing away at whatever it was she was doing before.

Serena bit her lip pensively, scratching awkwardly at her ear as she racked her brain for words, the conversation having endured a long lull. "I just keeping getting lost in my thoughts." She offered him the same lame excuse.

It was now her who turned her head to meet his stare, her eyes pooling with insecurity. He didn't need to be a god to sense her words were a lie, and a bad one at that.

"Well then, let me guide you through them?" Loki caught himself speaking without thinking, although he wasn't too upset with his words. He wanted to help her feel better. Perhaps he was being a little too persistent, but he'd rather have her feel like he cared too much than too little.
