Prompt: B64. "Your flirting is so bad it's adorable."
Word count: 535
"Looking good tonight, Kaz," you bit your lip as your boss made his way to the bar counter and ordered a shot. He turned his gaze on you, looking as uninterested as ever and you suddenly felt like you wanted to sink through the ground. "Um... I love your hat."
You wanted to slap yourself internally - you always practiced different flirts when your boss came around, coincidentally always coming to stand right beside your stool and you had tried to flirt with him for weeks but you always ended up making a fool out of yourself.
Kaz looked at you for a few seconds, and you would have liked to believe that he glanced down on your lips and immediately tried to push your dream of him wanting to kiss you, or him feeling even something for you away. You had embarrassed yourself enough for this evening.
"Remember that our next meeting for the heist next week is first thing tomorrow morning. Don't be late," Kaz snapped you out of your dream castle, dismissing your earlier words and you nodded.
"Of course, boss," you nodded and offered him a slight smile.
Kaz left the counter, leaving you gazing after him lovingly. You were snapped back to reality by a bump on your shoulder and you looked over.
Nina stood there, grinning at you and then she shook her head. "Your flirting is so bad it's adorable."
"I'm... I'm not flirting. What are you talking about?" you stuttered, but still lowered your voice a few notches. Nina rolled her eyes.
"You're so in love with our bossy-Kazzy, aren't you?" she smirked and you felt your cheeks heating up, opening your mouth to deny it, but Nina knew what you were going to say, "And don't lie, remember that I can hear your heart."
You closed your mouth and turned your gaze to the bar counter. You sighed and confessed, "Maybe... maybe a little bit."
Nina let out a happy squeal. "I knew it!"
You flailed your arms to make her stop before she'd alarm anyone. "Shh, anyone else doesn't know. Kaz doesn't know. And I know he will never reciprocate-"
"How do you know that?" Nina smirked, making you pause. "I mean, he's probably not saying it straight to your face, but everything screams how he has feelings for you too."
You rolled your eyes. "Kaz and feelings don't exactly fit into the same sentence."
"You're not the one who hears his heart whenever he sees you, or how his breathing changes," she raised her eyebrows at you with a soft smile as you turned your gaze to her, your eyes widening. "He's in love with you too. It's obvious."
You quickly turned your gaze back to the counter and by now, your cheeks were burning hot.
"Don't give me false hopes. It's just not possible that Kaz would like me back," you muttered and Nina let out a long, frustrated sigh.
"Whatever you want to believe. But I still stand my ground - that boy is in love with you, and you'll see it soon enough," she told you and left the counter, leaving you into your thoughts.
It was impossible... but still - could it be?
