"Love, I'm only tasting some of your whipped cream, you have to have an official taster!" Jesper whined as you dragged him out of the food storage room.

"No, Jes, I really don't need an official taster. And even if I did, it wouldn't be you. No offense." You smiled at his pout and closed the door. "And besides, it's 6pm, the food storage room is mine until 7pm, so... shoo!"

Kaz smirked slightly upon seeing Jesper's disappointed expression at your scolding, it was amusing how protective you were of your section of the food storage when you were in the middle of baking. He sat there at the small table, watching you stirring your dough with a large wooden spoon as he ate his breakfast and drank his coffee which you had pushed in front of him a moment before. Kaz had never been a breakfast person, but you had made him to eat breakfast as he was glued to work and often missed lunch because of it - and he had to admit, food and different pastries made by you tasted far better than any meal cooked by a member of the Dregs would ever taste.

You chopped up some pears, putting them in a bowl with sugar and cinnamon for a dessert pie to eat after lunch. You then took a break, pouring yourself a cup of water and turned around, sitting across from Kaz. He looked tired, but it wasn't uncommon for him - he never got enough sleep. You still sighed, you had been trying to convince him into going to sleep earlier as sleep deprivation wasn't good for his body - if he slept more, he'd be faster and even more dangerous towards his enemies, but the man was too stubborn to listen, even when it was you saying that to him.

"What are you making?" he asked you.

"A pie," you replied simply, taking a sip of your water. It was an old family recipe, you remembered your grandmother making it for you when you were just a kid. It was her way of cheering you up on those long cold winter days.

"A pear pie?" he asked surprised.

You nodded. "There are lots of pears softening up in the food storage. Almost nobody eats them, so I decided to make some pies with them. Letting the dough to raise is the most painful part though."

Kaz looked at the bowl of dough for a moment, before smirking slightly. "I suppose I could pop by lunch today."

You immediately had a wide smile on your face after he said it, and Kaz wished he could seize that moment and have a painting of it on his wall, your smile made his heart jump every time he saw it. He always tried his best not to let it show though, he was sure you wouldn't like him back and would most likely just get spooked. But it didn't mean he couldn't dream about you loving him back.

You realised you stared at him with a wide smile after a moment, and felt your cheeks burn. You nodded. "I'll make something delicious then, if boss himself will join the table. But don't be late."

Kaz raised his eyebrows for a moment, and let a smirk return to his lips again. "Wouldn't dream of it."
