chapter 12

Matteo's POV:

After she started limping I noticed that she is swaying

"Ava are you okay? You're swaying, hey hey ava keep your eyes open Ava can you hear me?" I asked her but the only answer I got was that she fell in my arms as I caught her before touching the ground and I quickily rushed to the car and started making my way to my hospital AKA warehouse as I think about everything that happened in that chaiotic day.

starting with that my men informed that the last shipment have been stolen by one of the rival gangs I didn't care about the shipment though I cared more about that mother fucker who decided to mess with the don of the Italian mafia he should welcome hell on earth.

And that was only the beginning

I was sitting on my desk chair discussing what to do with that rival gang with my second in command Enzo when Rora barged in without even knocking

"hold up right now and come downstairs Ava is waiting" she said angrily which in return I glared at her with 'watch your tone' look

"Matteooo, I'm hungry come on please lets go" she whined I chuckled at her childish behaviour and held up with enzo and start to head our wy down stairs to be greeted by a still sitting Ava she smiled at me but yeah who is she to get a smile from me?

As she finished her life story I couldn't help with the feeling of how is this girl who looks like she's going to break if I touched her is living in this way and when she mentioned Rora's date and I saw how rora blushed and gave her a glare I guess it runs in our genes and brushed the topic away by guiding her to the washroom and returning back to her seat

"come on don't tell me you didn't think that I already know, wow I don't miss any detail in your life sorellina" I winked

"ehum, I think Ava took so long I'm gonna check on her real quick" as she rushed out me on her tail heading to the living room couple of seconds and rora went her room upstairs and came back with something in her hand I assume foundation really? these girls can't live without makeup after 3 minutes the came back rushing with a furious Rora and a caught deer in the light look like Ava which made me slightly curious,

After their little fight my main concern was rora but I caught my self thinking of what Ava is hiding and why is she hiding it?

I helped rora calm down and sat on the couch next to her as she started telling me her thoughts

"I think he's hurting her Matteo she is badly bruised her eyes are black and have bruises all over her neck and hands and the day at the mall oh good how am I this stupid" she said running her hands on her face vigorously but the I took her hands in mine to calm her

"what happened at the mall rora?"

"when I saw her I hugged her and she tensed and winced and when I asked her she said that she fell off the stairs at home due to her being clumsy and that is the same excuse she gave me now" she paused as if she was thinking "a-and the foundation she bought a lot of foundation she bought 4 not 1 as any normal girl would do" she paused again I kept silent thinking and giving her her time to think "what do you think? Did you notice anything on her?"

"yes, I have the day she brought you her she kept flinching but I washed the feeling of as I thought anybody in her situation would flinch and be afraid but what caught me a bit off guard that when I held her arm she panicked and started running away as if she saw a ghost. And that day at the clinic I noticed a bruise on her arm and when I asked her she nervously looked away as if trying to escape the situation and you helped by coming out and she sighed in relief"

"she's getting abused matteo that's clear now we have to help her"

"no, I think its better if you stayed away from her she may be involved in something more serious" I said sternly

"No, Mat that's not you, you may have grown cold and ruthless but you still help people who needs you and she needs us Matteo please we have to help her"

I sighed "fine, but we can't help her if she doesn't let us in we can't force her rora that's not right you need to take a break and clear your mind to think correctly, why don't you call your friends and go out?"

She replied shortly leaving me to my thoughts calling my third in command

"hey, josh"

"hey mat everything right?"

"yeah I just need you to recheck on Ava's background her father and any male connection in her life"

"okay consider it done"

As we hang up I saw rora coming downstairs surprised by how quick she got dressed after she left I went back to my office completing work after a while I heard the doorbell rang so I went and opened it.

Then here I am, the rest is history

As I arrive I'm met with an angry worried Josh but I ignore him and carry Ava's dead body to the emergency room

As the doctor start checking her I left and started filling josh with everything happened even mine and rora's talk which reminds me

"did you really take my sister out without asking me that's offending you dumbass" I told him calmly

He gulped "I-I can explain Teo I swear I was going to ask you for permission but I just felt it right at the moment and I didn't think to m.." I cut his rambling

"you're my brother idiota its fine you have my blessing but If you hurt her you know how it will end" he nodded vigorously and gave me a bro hug as we were cut by the doctor coming out of the room

"she's fine now though her ribs are badly bruised nothing is broken and I stitched her arm and her body was full of glass that we took out and also stitched the needed one there's no signs of concusion and her passing out was from the blood loss, she's now asleep and would be up in the next hours she needs to be on bedrest for a couple of days" she finished but started looking at me as if she wanted to say something but was hesitat

"speak" I demand coldly

"um sir there was signs of sexual assault I need your permission to do a rape kit"

"no don't when she wake up she gets to make the call" with that I dismissed her looking back to josh

"I still can't believe you brought her here Matteo even Rora never came her and now you bring a stranger"

"actually that's Ava rora's friend" his eyes widened in realization "oh my god does she knows she here I cant hide it from her she'll kill me"

"whipped" I scoff "no she doesn't call her and tell her to meet us here"

"nonsense I will go get her"

5 minutes later I heard whimpering from her room and I barged in and saw her thrashing in her bed and crying for someone to stop.

"stop.... NOOO" she screamed as I tried to hold her legs and arm to stop her from moving

"nooo get off me please it hurts stop" she screamed more

"Ava wakeup you're having a nightmare you're safe now"

And I did the last thing I thought I would ever do

I hugged her and kept waking her up till she snapped her eyes open staring at me with tears streaming down her face trying to calm herself down.
