You sat there at the restaurant table, surrounded by the decorations that proclaimed the festivity of Valentine's Day. Most of the patrons at the restaurant were couples - couples that were young and crazy in love, very similar to you.

Yet not quite.

Contrary to what every other lovestruck individual might have been feeling, you were rather melancholic - a dull ache in your chest, even though you were having dinner with the people that were supposed to be your loved ones.

Across from you sat Brian May, the young man that you loved - the young man that loved you.

With all the tension that you were currently experiencing in your life, it was easy to forget that you were involved with a renown musician that was a part of the rock band called Queen - and even easier to forget that the three other boys were pretty much your brothers at that point.

You'd known them for a little over seven years now, having fallen in love with Brian around five years ago.

Life with the boys around had been the best time of your existence, and falling in love with Brian had only made it more perfect. You loved him with every bit of your soul, just as he loved you even more dearly - the perfect blend of passion and chastity, true love.

Given your whirlwind romance, no one had been surprised when he'd proposed to you, a year and a half after you'd started dating. Oh, you'd been the happiest you could ever have been, and the boys were certain that you would tie the knot not too long after.

But that was where the dark cloud, within the silver lining, resided. Your joys and blissful moments were the silver lining, and the cloud it outlined was the situation between your families - yours and Brian's to be exact.

When you'd first moved to the area, you'd been taken in by a family that you'd been fairly well-acquainted with, and they'd helped you stand on your own two feet - loving you like their own.

Though they weren't your biological family, they were definitely considered family, and they were the individuals that had played an important role when it came to your love life. Upon first getting serious with Brian, you had taken him to meet them, shortly after he'd taken you to meet his parents - but neither of those introductions had gone well.

Brian's parents didn't really have a problem with you, per se, but they did have a problem with the fact that he was not interested in the girl that they'd preferred for him - a childhood friend of his. They couldn't quite accept that their son was defying them for the very first time, insisting that he only wanted you, and so you weren't exactly given the warmest welcome.

The same pattern seemed to rest with the introduction of Brian to your 'adoptive' family - varying only slightly.

Your family hadn't liked Brian because they'd reckoned that he had influenced you to act in ways that were not characteristic to you, and they'd wrongly called him a bad influence. No matter how many times you'd both tried to fix things and set the record straight - a fight always broke out between your families whenever they met, leaving you distraught.

The two of you had desperately hoped to get married, and in order to do that, you knew that you'd had to get your individual families to reconcile - but you'd been tryint for three whole years, and nothing seemed to work. Neither you nor Brian wished to get married whilst your families were still at odds, but with the way everything was looking, there didn't seem as though there would be any other option but to get married whilst they were at odds.
