The sound of your alarm clock awoke you, making you groan as you progressed into an alert state. With a heavy hand, you slammed your hand over the top of the device, forcing it to fall quiet once more.

It was either only six in the morning or already six in the morning - and which one it was depended on your class-schedule for the day. A moment was needed for you to remember which it was, and once you remembered what your timetable was, you groaned again, knowing that it was already six in the morning.

College life was far from easy, and even after two years of being in that environment, you still hadn't fully adjusted to it.

You had commenced your college years with the intention to pursue a medical degree - and since there were more units to study in that field, your college journey was going to be slightly longer than the average one.

Most of your mornings began the same - very early and very disappointing, because you never quite got enough sleep. From morning until the late afternoon, you always had something to do or a class to attend, and even when you returned to the flat that you rented - on-campus - you buckled down to study until late into the night, going to sleep barely before you were to wake up again.

It was exhausting, to say the least, but you had embarked on this journey with the determination to finish what you started, and you did not intend to give up.

Life on campus was very different from your life back at home, especially since you now lived with a complete stranger. Well, he had been a stranger when you'd first met him, but now he was someone you could call a friend - to a certain extent.

The young man that you lived with was your flat-mate, and a fellow student at the university - and he went by the name Brian.

He was a tall, lanky young man with curly, and relatively unruly hair. At first glance, he appeared very stern and aloof, but once you got to know him, he was extremely kind and tender.

His academic field of advancement was Physics, specializing in Astrophysics.

From the moment you'd met him, it wasn't difficult to tell that he was extremely intelligent, and the fact that you both studied Mathematics was something that delighted you, for he often helped when you needed it.

But, not only was your room-mate a genius, he was also quite gifted musically, specifically with the guitar. He loved the art so much that he had built his own guitar, sharing with you that he had done so with his father.

You'd frequently hear him practising in the evenings, when you had long retreated to your bedrooms - and he was very good.

You'd started living with him around the same time that you'd commenced your first year at the university, so it was safe to say that you were good friends by that point.

Bringing yourself back to the present moment, you threw off your blankets and got out of bed, even though you wished you could sleep in just a bit more.

The fact that it was a cold morning made it a thousand times worse. There was nothing more appealing than the thought of staying warm and cosy underneath your blankets when the weather was cold - and now you had to do the complete opposite.
