You let out a sigh staring at the white screen, your hope burning down as every minute passed by. You but your lower lip trying to calm down your anxiety, forcing yourself to think that it was his work that was taking him too long but deep down you knew the reality.
The door unlocked startling you a bit but as he walked in a small smile of relief left your lips as your eyes met with his. "Why aren't you asleep yet?", His voice was still as soft as silk mixed with the clinking of his keys which he kept on the counter. "Yeah I couldn't fall asleep", you breathe out wrapping your arms around his neck as he pecked your lips, his kiss still as soft as it had always been but something tasted so different or it was just your thoughts
"I'm really tired so I am just gonna go", Hyunjin rubbed his eyes making his way to your shared bedroom. Walking past you, a hint of lavender mixed with vanilla fills the air just for a second but enough to bring you to your realisation. The scent was beautiful and expensive but it wasn't yours but you knew he liked it and it was enough as your heart sank, tears filling your eyes but he didn't seem to notice as he already the bedroom door shut
Hyunjin was beautiful. A piece of art, as if all the angels themselves came together to carve him.. You were pretty too but compared to him, he was breath taking to you and many more. She was beautiful too, the one who stays on his mind more than you ever did.. you weren't supposed to know but accidentally stumbled upon a few pictures of them together, in love. You bet she had a touch better than yours, making him fall in love every time they held hands or laid down together her head on his chest giving him butterflies which you never could.. She was perfect
Hyunjin was sound asleep next to you, unaware of the tears marking your face. You wanted to confront him.. ask him where did it go wrong? what wasn't enough on your side that he had to find another woman to satisfy him. Maybe if you were like her.. you thought to yourself.. maybe if you were prettier, funnier, anything that would make him all yours again, you were ready to do it
The sun rose again, the rays of light falling on your face making you turn to the other side, your hands trying to find Hyunjin but of course, the only thing you could feel was his pillow. You slowly open your eyes. You hated this, but you loved him.. couldn't leave him and you cursed at yourself for being so naive, so dumb but what would you even say?
From: Hyunie<3 will be late today.. don't stay awake i will have dinner outside
You sighed. You really wanted to believe him.. wanted to convince yourself that it was just you doubting and overthinking for no reason. Your phone buzzed again as it lit up with another message but as desperately wanted it to be from Hyunjin, you knew it wasn't
From: Mom lets meet up for dinner today. I miss you❤️
A small smile formed on your face as you replied to your mom agreeing to meet her as it had been long since you both had seen eachother and it should be a nice distraction from your thoughts and Hyunjin wasn't gonna come home anyways
Time passed away like it always did with you engaged in your work and you were glad for not having enough free time to make yourself sad though once in a while you somehow managed to zone out thinking about the same things again and again
You stood at the reception waiting for your mom to show up but suddenly felt a tight knot in your stomach as your eyes met with his. Her smile lit up her face as they too stood there waiting for the waiter to lead them to their table. She looked stunning with her long black hair let out loose, her eyes perfectly painted golden blended with her eyeliner making her look like a real life doll.
"Y/N", Hyunjin whispered under his breath as he tried his best not to panic. "You guys know eachother", Her soft voice looked at you and then him as Hyunjin bit his lower lip not knowing what answer he was supposed to give. He had never prepared himself for this situation. "We were in high school together", You laughed it off trying your best to not let your tears fall out. You couldn't believe that you were still willing to defend him. You hated yourself and your feelings for him.
Hyunjin stayed silent his heart beating faster than it usually did. He couldn't believe whatever you were doing.. the guilt finally stirring inside him. "You're here with your boyfriend?", She asked, so polite, so unaware. You saw as Hyunjin shut his eyes close not knowing what was about to happen, "I actually-", You were cut off, "Me and Hyunjin are here for our six month anniversary", She smiled in excitement as Hyunjin bit his tongue, knowing how bad he screwed up this time. Your heart sank as you heard her words. You would do anything for this to be a dream.
"congrats", You blankly replied, Hyunjin's eyes avoiding yours as he sighed. "I was actually leaving right now", You look at her. Everything about her was perfect, no wonder he was interested. She nodded as you returned her a smile walking out of the restaurant losing all your appetite. You messaged your mom saying you won't be able to make it as you felt sick which wasn't a lie at all.. You felt sick, disappointed, hurt, betrayed.. why was this even happening?
"Y/N", the voice that had you addicted rang behind you as you shut your eyes, your tears finally rolling down, "I can explain", Hyunjin licked his lips as you sighed, "explain", You looked up at him, wanted to know his reasoning. He stayed silent, his words seemed to choke up as he looked at your tears smudging your mascara yet you still looked beautiful. "I'm sorry, I don't-", He couldn't complete his sentence. He knew exactly what he was doing, he was aware of the consequences, he had no explanation.
