I just woke up and I was excited as ever.

Today was my 10th birthday... well me and Lizzie's.

"Wakey wakey" my mom says as she walked into the room with a tray full of my favorites.

"Hey mom" Lizzie says as she woke up and started to get out of her bed.

"Your dad is downstairs and he says you guys can open one gift now and one later." My mom says

"Cool!" I said

"You guys must eat your food first" my mom says as she handed me and Lizzie our food.

"Okay mommy, we will" I said with a smile

She smiled back and kissed both of our foreheads before leaving out.

"What do you think dad got us?" Lizzie asked

"I don't know.. but I will be happy with whatever." I said as I ate my pancake.

"That sounds lame." She says as she ate hers.

I just chuckled at her and finished up my breakfast.

My mom said we weren't having a party yet I didn't believe her.

"Hey there Josie" Stefan says to me as I skipped down the halls.

"Hey Stefan." I said back to him with smile.

Stefan is my mommies husband.

"I got you something, for your birthday but you can't tell Alaric " he says as he held out a ukulele.

"I promise not to tell" I said

He smiled and gave it to me.

"I have to go get ready for your pa- for work" he says

"I already know mommy is throwing a surprise party, but I can keep it a secret" I said

"How are you going to keep it a secret when it's your party?" He asked

"Because Lizzie doesn't know" I said

"Right." He says sadly.

I wonder what was bothering him.

"If you are worried I will tell dad about the gift I promise I won't." I said

He chuckled a bit.

"Don't worry, I'm not worried about that" he says

I then put my hand out.

"What?" He asked

"Pinky promise?" I askedp

"Pinky promise what?" He asked

"Pinky promise that I won't tell" I said

He then put his hand out.

"Pinky promise" he says

"What are you doing in here?" My dad basked as he say me and Stefan in the hall way right next to his office.

"I'm just talking to Stefan" I said with a soft smile.

"You shouldn't be.. you should be getting ready with your sister" he says

"B-but I was enjoying talking to Stefan" I said

"Go now Josette." He says

I then looked at Stefan for help and he just nodded his head.

I sighed sadly.

"Okay" I said

" where did you get this from?" He asked directing to my ukulele.
