Jake headed out once again. The trunk was still open, so he went up to the car. Would Mikaelas mom ask where she went? He would know what to say.

"Oh hi again!" Said Mikaela's mom.

"Hello." He said, trying to stay extremely polite.

He hoisted up a box into his arms. He wanted to fill the awkward silence with something.

"Um.. your daughter... she... she's really smart. We had classes last year-"

'God why am I talking?'

"Yeah she's... really smart." He finished.

'And not to mention really really pretty-'

"Thanks sweetie" Mikaela's mom said, cautiously.

"Nice to meet you." He said, closing the trunk and heading back in with the drinks.

'Why do I talk? She totally suspects something' He thought, placing the box on the table beside the others.

He looked up and there she was on the other side of the table.

"Hey, thanks for helping out, Jake." Mikaela said, smiling. His attention was drawn to her lips, which were pink and slightly glossy.

'Don't be obvious.' He told himself, tearing his gaze away and meeting her eyes.

"Anything for you, Mikaela." He said jokingly.

Only, he wasn't joking. He was being dead serious.
