A few classes later it was time for Harper's first school lunch. She promised to sit next to Peter and his friend Ned, She didn't mind. She wasn't going to go up and talk to anyone else.
"Ned— over here!" Peter called his friend over as Peter and Harper were walking to the cafeteria. Ned ran over and started walking with us. "Dude, is that who I think it is?" Ned was whispering, thinking Harper couldn't hear the two.
Peter nodded and started whispering too. "You guys do know I can hear you right? I'm like.. right next to you." Harper decided to speak out. Ned looked at the girl. "I like her."
"Well did you think I was some stuck up spoiled rich girl?" Peter and Ned mumbled a sort of 'yes'. Harper nodded slowly rethinking her life choices.
While sitting down at the lunch table Harper pulled her phone out and decided to text the avengers group chat. Peter and Ned sat across for her. Peter took a bite of his apple. "So are you like.. an avenger?"
Harper shook her head. "No. I mean I have helped with unknown missions, just never considered an Avenger." Harper decided to try the cheeseburger the school was serving. Harper picked the burger up and took a bite into it.
She smiled and then frowned. She found it absolutely disgusting. "What the hell is this. It sure ain't a cheeseburger." Harper pushed her tray away. "What are you talking about?, the cheeseburgers are the best." Peter looked at the girl that had a disgusted face.
Harper shook her head and spit out the food she had in her mouth. "Yeah... No." Ned looked at Peter, and then Harper. "You know, you guys would make a good couple."
Harper laughed. "That's a good one, but no. We just met like a few hours ago. And also he's a fangirl." Ned laughed, while Peter was sitting there.
"Anyway, what are you doing later?" Harper looked at her phone realizing Natasha texted back. "Going home to do homework. Why?" Harper put her phone back down and looked at the two dorks in front of her. "Why don't you guys come on over to my house, I'm sure Happy would mind."
Peter smiled, hiding his excitement "I mean, Aunt May won't mind. Sure!"
Harper stood up and grabbed her phone. "Okay. Meet me out front when school is done."
Harper walked out the cafeteria and went into the bathroom, she called Natasha, She answered and it sounded like she was on a mission. "Hey Nat." "Hey princess, what's up. I'm kind of busy right now." Harp sighed, She loves the Avengers, but she rarely hangs out with them or they never get a break. "Uh. Nothing. Just wanted to call and say hi."
"Alright, Well I'll call you later." "Okay. B-" Natasha hung up before Harper could even finish her sentence. Harper put her phone down and looked at herself in the mirror. She didn't hate that she was Tony Starks daughter, She hated that, thats what everyone knew her for and the fact that her family is rarely around. Harper took a deep breathe and wiped the tear that had fell on her face. She wasn't trying to break down and everyone was gonna see her using her powers.
"You got this Harp, only a few more classes and then schools over. Stay calm till then" Harper gave herself a little pep talk. Harper walked out the bathroom and walked to her locker, she decided to decorate a bit. She put up a polaroid picture of her and the Avengers on the inside of her locker.
Everyone was still at lunch when she finished, She didn't understand why lunch was so long. If she was at home, Happy would have got a two cheeseburgers, one for Harp and one for him, then they would go play.
Harper closed her locker and just walked around, the bell rang meaning its time for history class, Harper remembered were Peter showed her the class was and walked there. She walked pretty slow, she didn't wanna be the first person there.
She made it sooner or later. She can already tell she was gonna hate this class. She didn't wanna tell herself but to be honest it was because Peter wasn't there.
