{Dean's POV}

I woke up with Cas curled up next to me. I watched him for a moment, wondering if he would open his eyes. When he didn't, I rested my head on his shoulder, thinking about the past couple days. After a few minutes, Cas stirred in my arms.

"Dean," he yawned.

My lips twitched up. "Yes, Angel?"

"Angel?" he asked, confused.

I nodded slowly. "Yeah. Angel. That is what you are."

"What? Am I supposed to call you Human?"

I laughed, a full laugh from my whole body. "Yeah, Cas. Go ahead, call me Human."

He frowned. "Dean. I'm hungry."

I stopped laughing. "What?"

Cas sighed. "I said I'm hungry." He was silent before he asked, "Can you make burgers?"

He was acting like this was no big deal. As if he, an angel, didn't just ask for food. "It's like ten in the morning."

"Please?" He smiled and laced his fingers through mine.

"Fine."

I rolled him over so I was straddling his hips and kissed him. When he tried to kiss back, I jumped off my bed.

He groaned in frustration. "Dean."

I smirked as I walked to the kitchen, dressed only in a T-shirt, socks, and boxers.

I was assembling the sandwiches when Sam walked in. "Burgers? At ten thirty? Really Dean?"

I put the bun on Cas's second burger and grinned. "Yeah. At Cas's request."

Sam frowned. "Cas?"

I looked up. "Yes, Cas. You know, the blue eyed angel who usually wears a trenchcoat. The man in my bedroom. Ever heard of him?"

"Yes, I've heard of him," he said dryly. "I just mean, why is Cas asking for food?"

I shrugged. "I dunno. He just woke up and was hungry. So I made him burgers."

"Aren't you worried about him?"

I picked up the plate. "We talked about this. He's fine. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go feed the angel who's patiently waiting for burgers."

Sam gestured for me to leave and as I walked down the hall I wished I didn't have to lie. If only I wasn't worried.

Later on that day, Cas left for Heaven. He said he would stop in whenever he could. Which was surprisingly a lot. He came mostly every night and at least once a week during the day. I'm pretty sure the other angels were getting tired of his disappearing. But he kept his word. He visited me and we grew even closer. I barely had to whisper his name and he would zap to wherever I was. And whenever he couldn't make it, I prayed to him, telling him how much I loved him.

Six months we kept it up.

Six months until a stupid hunt changed everything.

"I hate demons. They're so... rude."

Sam laughed at me. "Really? Demons are rude. Out of every adjective, rude is what you decided on."

"Can it, Sammy." He stifled another chuckle and I continued. "I mean, was it necessary to stab me? Ow. Right in the shoulder too." I scrunched up my face and Sam shook his head.

"Here. Let me bandage you up."

I heard a flutter of wings and the sound of a chair being upset. "Cas?" I yelled. "Did you teleport onto a chair again?"

I pressed a rag to my shoulder and walked into where the noise came from. There Cas was, and there was the chair. On the floor. Cas was standing next to the table, holding onto the edge as if his life depended on it.

"Cas, are you okay?"

He looked up and what little blood was left in his face drained.

"No. I am very much not okay."
