(A/N: This is my second time writing a fanfic so if it's bad, then don't mind 😭)

XIAO POV

The darkness that washed over Xiao took his mind off the rain pattering on his head. His body ached and he felt like he was going to pass out.

Things weren't going as planned.

Xiao was going to go visit Rex Lapis. He said he had a guest coming over and he wanted to introduce Xiao to him. Even though Xiao was never the "social" type, he accepted. Declining Rex Lapis's invitation was like disobeying your father. Disrespectful (not for everyone though).

His chest heaved up and down. He was struggling to breathe. The karmic debt was washing him up in darkness and he was only able to make it halfway through to the meeting place Rex Lapis had told him to go to to meet the guest.

Xiao was determined to go to the place. For Rex Lapis. He dragged his feet along the muddy, empty road. His legs suddenly felt numb and Xiao collapsed to the floor. He lay there, coughing and struggling to breathe.

His vision was getting blurry, and he could only see the faint twinkle of the stars above, the midnight moon giving light to the Earth.

The rain started to become heavier, leaving obvious, little, water drops in the mud and grass. Xiao could feel cold water droplets press against his skin. It bothered him, to be in the rain, but what could he do? He couldn't move or even gasp out a word.

Xiao could hear the rain getting heavier and heavier, drowning any other forest sounds that he heard earlier. Dark clouds formed and thunder started approaching.

Even if his vision was rather blurry, Xiao could see someone running through the rain right toward him. He reached out his hand for help, but it slowly lowered. Xiao grunted as he rest his head on the cold, muddy trail.

That was all Xiao did before everything went black.

VENTI POV

Venti walked along the dirt road. It was late at night when he finally arrived in Liyue. Even so, the rain was very heavy and it was such a bother to get through it all.

Venti held onto his hat tightly. He could sense the rain getting heavier and heavier and he wasn't going to look too good once he arrived to meet Morax. That darn old man really decided to choose such a rainy day to meet up? Gosh.

Venti started running through the rain. He felt like he was in a romance movie. No, a musical. Yeah, that sounds about right.

Venti suddenly started running faster and faster than his old "fast" pace. He wasn't sure why.

It was an instinct, he guessed. But, then again, why was he running? He saw something in the corner of his eye that caught his attention, so perhaps that was why? He couldn't tell. It was a bit blurry for him and dark. It was rather hard to see...

Venti started sprinting, letting go of his hat. Thunder started to wash over the skies and Venti could almost feel his hat falling off, but, he didn't care.

After a long while of running, the blurred picture finally became clear. Venti's archon senses were able to sense anything from 69 😳 miles away. He had sensed a living being in danger, or rather, about to die. It could've been an animal, but he wanted to make sure. And anyway, this "creature" was on his path, so it couldn't hurt to look.

What was terrifying was to see such a dark aura come out from a human being. No, one that looked like a human. Venti could sense he wasn't human, at least not completely. It confused him and he wasn't sure what to do.

Venti attempted to catch his breath. Within a few seconds, Venti had fully recovered from the long run. The body lying in front of him didn't concern him as much as before when he kneeled down to see that this person's pulse was doing fine.

Venti turned the body around onto their back to see who the person was.

This boy was rather familiar to Venti, but he couldn't lay his finger on it.

They had pale skin, black hair with a green-blueish fade. Just like Ventis, except not braided and a little shorter. A tiny purple diamond was seen on his forehead. He was rather short, even shorter than the Archon himself. Venti admired the boy's features for a while until he realized that the rain was still going. He looked up into the sky as he started running along the path, carrying the boy in his hands as if he were a baby. One arm under his legs and the other under his back.

Venti hummed a song, forcing Anemo power into his voice to soothe the dark aura around the boy. It worked. The aura seemed to slightly fade, but it was still scaring Venti. It was quite unusual for a plain human.

Suddenly, the boy seemed to flinch. Venti thought he was waking up, but all he could sense was the boy groaning as he cuddled against Venti's chest. Venti seemed a bit flustered, blushing slight red. The boy relaxed as he rested his nose into Venti's cape that draped on his shoulder. His arms wrapped around Venti's neck as they ran through the rain.

Venti sighed and chuckled quietly. He then whispered to himself. "How adorable..~"

Muddy footsteps were left in their trail as the rain and thunder roared, as it was no match for this love that was brought into the lands of Liyue.

(yeah, no, I know I said that there would be a part 2, but I'm deciding to leave it off here. Unless you guys want a long story in a book of oneshots- Then again, I could publish a different book of "Rainy Sundays" if that's what you guys want lmao)
