They only hear us scream,
But not the pain behind the tears.
We try to drown it out.
But it haunts us in our sleep.

Feels like bright lights scald our eyes,
And some loud noises shred our ears.
A tiny poke will pierce through our skin.

We touch something that feels gross,
It makes our whole body shiver.
You disrupt our routine,
It'll overcomplicate our world.

They call us a misfit, and weird,
If we didn't choose to be like this,
And we're "unique and special."
Why do we have to deal with consequences?

We are autistic,
Please let us be.
We want what you want,
To fit in with the crowd.
