➵ "Never Leave Me"

Levi pov

Another flash of lighting sparks out from the west. That can only mean one thing to our tragic mystery.

"Where did those two go?" I say out loud.

"How do you know that's Cross?" Erwin asks me.

"I just know." I say with confidence.

y/n pov

I run towards the sliding titian full force. Lily is riding Blaze and Kane ahead of me and staying out the way. I put all my energy into my fist that was covered with Lapis. I yell out a boastful scream and hit the titan on its ribs.

Immediate steam hits me and blinds me. I cry out in pain.

"GOD!" I say to myself in my crystal heart. Just how powerful was this thing? And where did it come from?

I fall back and wipe my eyes.

"Auntie Y/N!!" I hear Lily yell. She maneuvers Blaze to turn around sharply and hurries towards me.

She hops off of him and rushes to my Titians hand. Kane barks from his wagon and follows Lily, "Are you okay?" She tries to shake one of my fingers with all her little might.

I rip my inner self out of the ligament flesh of the heart and began to break it. I know when and enemy is too tough for me and this Titian is it. Plus it's near wall Sheena.

I crawl out my titian as it began to steam. I slide down it's crystal arm plates to Lily. "Thank goodness your okay." Lily hugs me tight as she sighs.

"We need to get ahead of this thing and head to wall Sheena. I'm sure the rest of the squad knows about this thing, let's go." I hug her back quickly and bring the two back to Blaze.

I hop onto him and help Lily up. "Yah!"

I see cargo being brought up to the wall. "Hey!" I wave up to one of the people. "It's me Cross!" I wave vigorously.

"Send it down Cross and Lily are back!" I hear Jean say.

A cart comes down for us, I grab Kane out his cart and put in the makeshift elevator cart set up. Lily follows me into the elevator and up we go.

"There you 4 are!" Sasha hugs Lily. "We thought you 4 went rogue or something!" Connie comments as he pets Kane lovingly.

"No we just had to go somewhere. We- well I apologize for scaring you all but we are all okay." I say. My eyes lead to Levi looking at me with stern yet gentle eyes.

I squeeze Lily's shoulder, "I'll be right back" I say and walk off.

I was dreading each step because I knew I was going to get a lecture from him and Erwin, hell probably even Hange.

I make it to Levi and Erwin with my hands behind my back. "Commander...Captain."

" (Y/N) Cross, so glad you decided to show your face today." Ackerman makes a remark. I scoff slightly so he couldn't hear, we are in front of Commander Erwin.

"Where did you run off too Cross?" Erwin asks looking sternly at me.

I don't answer, instead I go into my bag and pull out documents. "I decided to take a little trip home....we needed information...so I got us some. I knew you wouldn't let me leave since were under attack by the government or whatever the hell is going on but, this was something I needed to do. I apologize for scaring everyone it won't happen again." I bow and look at the two men staring at me.

It's silence for a few seconds but then a sigh. "Good work Cross, but you did put Lily in danger. Your now her caretaker but keep her out of Scouts business for her safety. We know she's around us 24/7 until we can rest and get you two to a safe home, just be mindful." Erwin says and he walks off.

"Get her caught up Levi." Erwin says as his last remark.

I sigh and get back up from my bow. I look up to see Levi looking at me. "What? You want to give me a lecture Ackerman?" I roll my eyes.

"I was worried..." he starts.

I widen my eyes a bit but keep my composure. "You know I'm stronger than you think."

"Just never leave me. I need to have the one pain in my ass to keep me down here on Earth along with all of this craziness." He says, I almost see a smile come out of him.

"Don't go soft on me Ackerman." I chuckle and hide my smile.

"Whatever, I assumed you tried to fight that thing. I could tell it was your Titian." He gets back to serious mode. It's always so interesting how fast he can switch.

"Yes, who or what is that?"

"Rod Reiss"

"Who?"

Levi catches me up on the plan and who Rod was. I was told to stay out of the way since I wasn't there at the time of anything. Kenny was dead...Eren and Krista..who was now Historia??? Anyways, they're both back and safe.

"Now all we do is wait." Levi says.

He stares out at the horizon, Rod wasn't too far out. I can see him and his weird body dragging itself along.

"I saw my father again." I suddenly say.

Levi just turns to me, ready to listen. "He looked the same...when I touched the crystals at my home...I was at another place. All my ancestors, the Crystal Titians before me." I sigh.

"What was it like seeing him again?" Levi asks.

"It was like paradise..." I smile as I turn to Levi. He looks at me for a moment and begins to say something but is interrupted by cannons going off.

It's time.
