BELLA'S BOUTIQUE TUESDAY MORNING
A day has passed since meeting Tony and Riff at the drugstore and Elizabeth was anxious about going back to work. The store seemed to be somewhere that the Jets went to frequently, that was why Valentina knew them so well but she didn't know whether she was ready to face them all without knowing exactly what she was getting herself in for. She wanted to follow her heart and her heart told her to give the boys a chance, they seemed friendly enough and they could show her so many things that she had only dreamed about seeing but her head was reminding her that her parents would kill her if she got involved with a gang. Even just talking to them would get her a life sentence to her bedroom. instead of working in the store, Valentina had asked her to stop at the Boutique and pick up something that she had ordered. The store was rather quiet that morning and she trusted the new girl enough to know that she would collect the parcel and then return promptly.
The Boutique was a small store in the centre of the city, it was painted a rather dull pink colour and had once been a rather beautiful place. Age had not done great things to the building which was crumbling and the glass panels at the front were steaming up without proper cleaning. She brushed down her skirt, the red chequered fabric giving her a new and colourful vibe for the day and then she pushed open the heavy door; hearing the bell ring as she entered. Inside, the boutique seemed to have seen better days as the furnishings looked posh but were plagued with dirt and had buttons missing here and there. In the back corner of the room there were a group of girls, they had been smoking because there were clouds above them but they stopped to stare at Elizabeth.
They had not seen this girl before and they were similar to the Jets, they knew everything about everyone. This girl was new, not only that but she was pretty and she wore rich clothes. Instantly half of the girls loved her and the other half envied her, but all of them watched her. The stares were getting on Elizabeth's nerves, she was always being stared at but she brushed it off and turned to the desk. "How can I help you?" The lady behind the counter asked, smiling at the girl that she had not seen before.
"I'm here to pick up a parcel for Valentina." She answered, handing over a note to the clerk and waiting whilst she went into the back room to find what had been ordered.
Standing up from the other girls, a curly haired blonde sauntered over to the front of the store; a cigarette between her fingers as she glared at the new girl. "How do you know Valentina?"
"I work for her." Elizabeth answered confidently, she didn't know why this girl was glaring her down but she wasn't scared; she had seen plenty of stuck-up girls before and she never backed down from them.
A different girl jumped up from the back corner, rushing over and standing in front of her friend, she seemed much friendlier as she smiled and bounced on the balls of her feet. "I love your dress, where did you get it from?"
