Aight, medieval au! Exciting, I know, and sooooo original, (not really). Still, I worked hard on it and am fairly proud of my plot and character transitions, so yeh. Also! This was inspired by a prompt I found on Pinterest that goes a-like this *makes italian hand gesture*:

"Would it kill you to relax?" the monarch teased their guard.

"Probably," the guard replied. "Likely, it would kill you too. That's rather the point."

A smile flashed across the monarch's face. "I'll risk it," they said, and held out a hand. "Dance with me."

Please keep in mind that it's kind of hard to translate modern characters into an ancient era and keep all of their modern traits, one of the hardest being Raihan, but I did my best, so bear with me.

Warnings: Hella angst, sad bois, your dad is kind of a dick, 'it's too late' trope, etc.

The Chandelure floated about the vast expanse of the castle's great hall, illuminating the many gleeful dancers. Music softly echoed as the people stepped in rhythm. All were happy and having a wondrous time. All except for the Princess, whom the dance was for.

She sat in her throne watching her subjects enjoy themselves in her honor. She wanted nothing more than to join them, but her personal guard as well as her father's order kept her in place. She was to dance with only one man tonight. Though she did not know his identity yet. Evidently, the man had requested his anonymity.

The Princess crossed her arms with a huff and pouted at all of the people dancing in their finest clothing. Her personal guard turned and smiled at her. "Is something the matter, M'lady?"

She leaned sideways in her throne and held her head up with one arm, wrinkling her lavish gown in a rather improper position, but she was in no mood to maintain stiff posture. She looked at her guard, a young man by the name of Hop. No sooner had he been knighted, than had she requested for him to be her guard. For Sir Hop was her closest and most trusted friend and she wanted to spend as much time with him as possible. However, the Princess' request wasn't immediately granted by her father, but luckily an endorsement from the highest ranking knight within the King's infantry, Sir Leon, Hop's brother, had placed the young knight in the King's favor.

The Princess thought a great many things were unfair, but she supposed that she was rather lucky that Sir Leon had taken pity on the pair of young friends. Sir Leon was the King's most trusted general and was of the highmost rank. She suspected that, if not for him, Sir Hop would not have been entrusted with her safety.

It seemed to her that her father was far too protective of her, she wanted more than anything for him to see her for what she was. A Princess who was coming of age today. And certainly one who could make her own decisions and take care of herself.

"Yes, Hop. A great many things. For one, I am not allowed to dance until I have danced with some unidentified stranger tonight. For another, I am in a state of constant frustration. I was not made aware that making you my personal guard would require you to be silent for many hours. Why can we not speak while you guard me?"

Hop laughed a little, "Apologies, your majesty. For I must always be focused, elseways you might be harmed."

She huffed again, "By whom? The Kingdom is at peace and has been for many years. And please dispense with the formalities, it sounds so silly coming from you."
