I NEVER THOUGHT I'D SAY this, but I'm relieved that dinner is finally over because I'm physically and emotionally exhausted. There was just too much tension going on between me and Scout at our small table, especially now that I figured out that he had been lying and hiding from Stella for the past couple of days that he was with me in Brooklyn.
I don't know if I can still trust him after all of the lies. He just keeps on lying, and I'm very disappointed with him. I actually like Scout because he's fun to hang out with, but... I don't know. I just feel somehow betrayed in a way I can't explain.
As much as I don't want to have another dinner like this with him, this might not be the last dinner I'm going to have with them. Because Stella already planned our next dinner right after we got out of the restaurant.
"I had so much fun tonight! Let's do this again before Scout and I fly back to Manila, okay?" Stella beamed. She has a lot of energy in her body, and I'm so jealous.
"Sure, why not. We don't know when we'll gonna see you two again," Ryder agreed, pertaining to Stella and Scout who will gonna go back to the Philippines in few more days. Ryder then looked at me, as if asking for my approval too.
"That sounds like fun," I said to Ryder before turning my gaze to Stella, who was also smiling broadly. Napapalakpak pa si Stella dahil sumang-ayon ako tapos ay kumapit siya sa braso ni Scout na tahimik lang na nakatayo sa tabi niya.
"Is that okay with you too, babe?" Nakangiting tanong ni Stella kay Scout. Bahagyang ngumiti si Scout at tumango, tapos mabilis naman siyang hinalikan ni Stella sa pisngi dahil sa sagot nito.
"Yay! That's settled then!" Stella excitedly beamed. "I can't wait!"
"Well..." I muttered, "I gonna head home. Thanks again for tonight guys," and waved them goodbye.
"Sinong kasabay mo pag-uwi?"
"I'll come along with you."
Napatingin kami ni Stella kay Scout at Ryder na sabay na nagsalita. Napalunok ako at pilit na umiwas nang tingin kay Scout.
"Let's go?" Pag-aya ko kay Ryder. Ni hindi ko tinapunan ng tingin si Scout.
He needs to stop doing this. It's embarrassing! Sa harap pa talaga ni Stella? He's unbelievable!
Nagpaalam na kami sakanilang dalawa at saka kami sumakay ng taxicab ni Ryder pabalik sa Brooklyn.
Given my ongoing conflict with Savanna, this type of problem is too much for me to handle. I've already got a lot on my plate. I don't need any more conflict in my life.
When I left my apartment this morning, I assumed I'd be able to enjoy this day without any worries, but I was wrong. I got side tracked. Again. By Scout. And I really need to put an end to this distraction. I need to focus on the reason I came here in the first place, which is Savanna.
