we accept the love we think we deserve is a common quote i've heard throughout my life.

the love is my mothers attention, there one moment and gone the next, her hand caressing my face and then clawing at it, asking why i'm bleeding.

the love is my fathers anger, lashing out at me for days on end before he comes into my room, tells me he loves me, and then we don't speak until he is angry with me again.

the love is my friends silence when i am hurting. the words it's okay and i'm here for you falling off of their lips with no reward.

the love is me, looking at myself in the mirror and bursting into tears. if i was different, maybe they would love me. if i was different, maybe they would like me. if i was different, maybe i wouldn't feel this way.
