Amada POV

The doctor walked in right after the nurse announced they had my results and I knew it was bad.

"Hello, I'm Doctor Weber." he smiled, opening my file.

He glanced down at it only for a brief second before looking back up at me. "Amada, we have your test results back from earlier. But before I get to that I want to have a physical examination. I promise I'll be quick."

"Okay." I mumbled.

"Great but first I need you to promise me to be truthful. If I ask you a question like, does your right hip hurt? Even if it only hurts a little bit, don't try to hide it just because you want to be tough or whatever the case is. Their could be an underlying problem and it's much better to get it out of the way now, if there is. Understand?"

I nodded.

"Alright, so that is my first question; Does your right hip hurt as you're laying here?"

I looked over at mom and she gave me that look, the one saying 'don't you dare lie' and so I nodded. "Only a little bit though." I added.

He marked something down in the file then asked, "If you turn your upper body, now be careful while you do, does it hurt more?"

As soon as I turned I felt the pain that he was referring to. "Yeah, it hurts a lot more."

He nodded, marking something else down. He walked over to the right side of the bed.

"I'm going to lift your leg, and I want you to tell me when it hurts, okay?"

After more physical tests and to the point I was literally crying in pain, he stopped.

"On your test results earlier we noticed a fracture in your femur. The femur is the longest and strongest bone in your body. Your femur neck connects your upper half to your lower half, it's at your hip. Because of how-"  he paused, as if trying to form his next sentence. "...thin your body is, your hip bulges slightly, it sticks out of your body, therefore leaving it more susceptible to damage." he explained.

"Wearing your seatbelt was very wise, and surely saved your life, but when the car hit into your door and jerked your body, the seat belt put an excessive amount of pressure on your protruding hip, causing a fracture in your femur neck." he continued. "If you were to try to stand you would fall, basically collapsing on the ground in an extreme amount of pain because you wouldn't be able to move."

Well that sounds just... delightful

"Honestly, I'm surprised you haven't said more about the pain, but you're on pretty heavy pain killers to begin with so" he finished with a little shrug. "As for treatment, for you and the severity of the fracture, emergency surgery would be the best option. The surgery would take roughly 3 hours. Following the surgery you will be needing crutches, which, you need anyway due to the other fracture in your leg, but you'll likely need them for quite a few months as you learn to walk again."

All of this for going into a fucking car with a drunk driver. For wanting to prove a point.

"What does the surgery consist of?" I heard dad ask, but everything became blurred with my own thoughts drowning me.

"Amada? Are you listening?" I heard mom ask after a minute, pulling me out of my thoughts. I looked up, meeting the eyes of the doctor.

"Sorry." I apologized, looking back down.

"I want to warn you something right now, Amada." he stated, asking, "Do you play any sports?"

I nodded slowly, already knowing what he was going to say. "I used to at least, I played soccer and a bit of volleyball."
