Fawn was even more absent than before. When there wasn't a Curse-Breaking assignment she was at the local wizarding library or locked in her room making plans. The rest of the group were seriously worried about her but no amount of questioning would get her out to talk.

Meanwhile, Fawn had acquired every document possible that talked about Tom Marvolo Riddle Jr. and his family tracing back for generations. What was already known was that Tom Riddle was the former name of Voldemort that he had changed to not be associated with his Muggle father and Half-Blood status. That had already been found out at the end of Fawn's second year when Harry had faced the memory of him in the Chamber of Secrets. He was only destroyed when he, Harry, had stabbed the journal Tom had come from with a Basilisk fang.

From what Fawn had learned in the past few months about Horcruxes, they could only be destroyed by Basilisk venom or Fiendfyre. Therefore, she now believed the journal to have been a now destroyed horcrux—well not now destroyed. In this timeline the journal was still very much intact and most-likely still located in Malfoy Manor.

Anyway, he was also raised in an orphanage and became a bully and was already extremely powerful before Dumbledore came to announce his acceptance to Hogwarts. His mother, Merope Gaunt, had used a love-potion on Tom Marvolo Riddle Sr. rendering Voldemort loveless from birth. He was also part of the Slug Club in his Hogwarts years as well as prefect and Head boy. However, some years after Hogwarts, the records of Tom Riddle Jr. disappeared and it wasn't until a few years before nineteen seventy that records of Lord Voldemort appeared.

There was no one who knew what he had done in the decades of absence but Fawn could guess it had to do with horcruxes and building a following.

Now the next part of Fawn's plan involved finding and destroying the horcruxes. The problem? Fawn only knew of one horcrux and had no idea how many Voldemort planned or had already made.

The world was constantly tossing her curveballs and she could only catch them with a slippery glove.

Regulus too was doing research. Being inside the Death-Eater circle had its perks seeing as finding information on the man was far easier to come-by. However, records of Voldemort didn't go back that far. See, Regulus didn't know of the Dark Lord's past life. Regulus didn't need to know about that to know who Voldemort trusted the most, who could be in possible possession of current horcruxes though.

He noticed Lucius Malfoy was constantly carrying a brown leather journal with him that he never wrote in. His eyes would flicker over to his master and down to the journal every meeting and Voldemort would nod the slightest bit in approval. It was a reach but that book may have held part of a soul among its pages.

Well, Regulus thought looking down at the note a few days later, that confirmed it.

Malfoy Manor was in better shape than 12 Grimmauld Place was. Each surface was pristine and dust-free. The floorboards did not creak. The white marble reflected the lighted torches which illuminated Regulus' path.

After many minutes of walking, the study came into view. The journal could be in there, but most-likely was close to Lucius in his room. If it really was a horcrux, Voldemort wouldn't allow Lucius to let the blasted thing out of his sight. No spot could be left unchecked though.

The door to Lucius's study was locked of course, but a simple Alohomora did the trick.

Unfortunately this awoke a member of the household.
