"The first thing you want to know about hippogriff's is that they're very proud creatures, very easily offended. You do not want to insult the hippogriff. It may just be the last thing you ever do. Now, who'd like to come and say hello?" Hagrid asked.

Everyone moved back. Everyone but Harry. (Y/N) reached to pull him back, but it was too late.

———

"Well done, Harry. Well done." He looked around and licked his lips, regretting his decisions.

"Come on now." Ron pushed Harry forward, forcing him to take a few steps closer to the amazing creature.

Meanwhile, (Y/N) was indeed fascinated, but knew better than to approach a magical creature before doing research.

"You have to let him make the first move. It's only polite. So, you step up, give him a nice bow. Then you wait and see if he bows back." Hagrid explained, ' and if he does, you can go and touch him. And if not...well, we'll get to that later."

Harry walked forward to Buckbeak and stopped a few feet in front of him. "Now, make your bow. Nice and low." He slowly bowed before the creature, looking up carefully.

The creature began squawking and flapping its wings, "Back off, Harry. Back off." Harry quickly but carefully stepped back- well not very carefully. He stepped on a stick, causing it to snap.

Hermione gasped and grabbed onto Ron's sleeve. (Y/N) looked at Seamus and Dean and pointed towards the two. The boys laughed quietly and failed miserably to hide it. Hermione turned around to glare at them and they quickly cowered behind (Y/N) making her giggle and Hermione gave her a stern look that also made her cower with the boys. Harry slowly began to bow while cautiously looking up at the hippogriff. The hippogriff squawked one more time before returning the bow, "Well done, Harry. Well done." Hagrid chuckled, "Here, you big brute, you." Harry stood up and let out a sigh of relief. He turned to his friends and smiled.

(Y/N) gave him a big smile and a thumbs up, mouthing a, "good job." he smiled brightly, his body going warm at the interaction, "Right. I think you can go and pat him now." Hagrid said and ushered Harry closer to the creature, "Go on, don't be shy." Harry nervously stepped toward the creature slowly, reaching his hand out, "Slow down, Harry." The bird pecked his beak towards him roughly which caused him to back away. Hermione gasped out of fear and grabbed Ron's hand. (Y/N) gasped at this but quickly covered her mouth which caught Dean and Seamus' attention and were surprised as well.

Ron flushed a deep red and looking at her hand. Hermione quickly realized what she did and looked at him. He avoided eye contact at all costs. She let go and they made space between each other acting as if nothing happened. Back with Harry, he was still slowly making his way towards to hippogriff, "Slow down, Harry. That's it..."
