Robin paced the shiny floors of scoops ahoy back and forth lost in thought attempting to decode the recording.

"Wait that last part just one more time" she instructed dustin as he rewinded the tape

"Okay, that word! Um... it's pronounced dly-nna-ya... which is spelled?..."

"It's the chair looking thing!" I shouted quickly identifying the letter 'd' from the whiteboard next to me.

Robin began scribbling down letters hopefully looking up to the whiteboard.

We continued to decode letter after letter until we uncovered our first sentence.

"The week is long? What the fucks that supposed to mean?" I asked

"No idea, but it's something. Let's go tell Steve" She chirped

"We've got our first sentence!" I told Steve hopping through the window and perching on the counter. Robin Leaning her elbows on the counter next to me.

"Oh seriously?" Steve asks surprised, two ice creams in his hands

"The week is long" Robin imitates a Russian accent

"Well that's thrilling" Steve says, disappointed

"I know. But progress" Robin hastily replied before running back to the break room.

I watched as Steve turned back around to serve the ice cream, realising it was el and max I greeted them

"Hey guys!" I waved at them

"Oh hey Heather, what brings you here?" Max asked curiously

"Oh you know, average spy shit" I replied with a smile

"Okay so here you go you got a strawberry and then a vanilla with Sprinkles and extra whipped cream" Steve handed them their ice cream as they thanked him.

"Wait a second. are you even allowed to be here?" Steve asked el.

The girls shared a look before running off in fits of Giggles.

"Okay..." Steve muttered with a puzzled expression as he turned to me.

"Hey not to be an annoying customer but could you get me a sample of that USS butterscotch I've been eyeing it up all day. Pleaseeeee" I asked Steve trying my best to persuade him.

"As you did me a solid earlier, I'm sure I can let you off this once" He said with a smile as he handed me the sample

"Thanks. What was that about by the way?" I asked referring to el and max.

"Oh.... um... I've just.... I've never seen her with the others in here before that's all" He seemed to hesitate in his response which made me a little suspicious but I brushed it off.

"Yeah, dustin's always saying how overprotective hopper is. Seems kinda strange" I speculated, thinking intently as I chewed the tiny spoon for the sample.

Steve appeared to ignore this comment as he swiftly asked "How's that USS butterscotch?"

"So good" I replied with a satisfied smile

The rest of the day passed by in a blur. Robin and Steve took turns to decode the message, the aforementioned code and constant supply of ice cream eating away much of the day. By the time the mall had closed though, we had managed to crack the whole code. We all stood around the whiteboard repeating the phrase in a slow, montone voice

'The week is long.
The silver cat feeds.
When Blue meets
Yellow in the west'

"I mean... it just can't be right!" Steve complained as we locked up scoops ahoy for the night and began to stroll out of the mall.

"It's right!" Robin assured him

"Honestly I think it's great news" Dustin admitted

"Well... not exactly dustin I mean we don't know what the hell it means!" I stated

"Exactly! How is this great news? I mean... ha... so much for being American heroes it's total nonsense" He sulked

"It's not nonsense it's too specific. It's obviously a code" Dustin deduced

"What do you mean, a code?" Steve asked

"Like a super secret spy code" Dustin stated like it was the most obvious thing in the world.

"That's a total stretch" Steve insisted

"I don't know, is it?" Robin challenged

"You're buying into this?" Steve asked surprised

"Listen, just for kicks. Let's entertain the possibility that it is a secret Russian transmission. What did you think they were gonna say, "fire the warhead at noon"?"

"Exactly" me and dustin said in sync

"And my translation is correct I know that for sure" Robin determined

"I dont doubt it" I agreed

"So... 'the silver cat feeds' why would anyone talk like that unless they were trying to mask the true meaning of their message and why would anyone mask the true meaning of their message unless the message was somehow sensitive?"

"Exactly!" Dustin pointed out to Steve

"So I guess that confirms your suspicion" Robin smirked

"Evil Russians" Dustin stated plainly

"I can't believe I'm about to agree with this strange child, but, yeah, totally evil Russians" Robin laughed

"I agree... it's a code. But what good does that mean to us if we can't uncover it?" I asked

"Well I guess if we translate the rest then hopefully a pattern will emerge" Robin stated

"Like the silver cat could be a meeting place?" Dustin asked

"Or a person?" Robin suggested

"Or a weapon?" I suggested

"It'll probably take a super genius to crack it but... where's Steve?" Robin asked looking around

We turned round to see Steve next to 'the indiana flyer' scrambling in his pockets for loose change

"Hey Steve, what are you doing?" Robin asked

"It's a quarter. I need-- do you have a quarter?" Steve asked desperately, his coins clattering out of his pockets

"You sure you're tall enough for that ride?" Robin chuckled as she ran over to him

"Quarter!" Steve shouted impatiently

Steve intently watched the indiana flyer rock back and forth after Robin handed him a quarter.

Robin sarcastically asked, "you need help getting up, little stevie?

Which earned a laugh from me and my brother, but not from Steve who impatiently shushed us and said "would you three just shut up and listen?"

We all stayed quiet for a moment before it clicked

"Holy shit" I realised

"What is it?" Robin asked turning to me

"It's the music... the--the music from the tape dustin give me that" I hurried, snatching the recorder from his hands and playing the tape.

We all listened as the tape had the same song playing quietly in the background

"I don't understand" Robin stated

"It's the exact same song on the recording" Dustin informed her

"Maybe they have horses like this in Russia?" Robin suggested

"The indiana flyer? I don't think so. This code... it didn't come from Russia" Steve declared

"It came from here" I finished the sentence as we all shared a moment of realisation

Oh shit.
