The next morning, I headed back to the apartment that I share with Ryunosuke so I could get ready for the day ahead. As I opened the door, I found him and Eriko sitting on the couch, drinking coffee together.
"Hey bud, since it took you so long to read my text, did something happen at the party last night?" Ryunosuke said
"Yeah, after I realized you two had left already even though you dragged me there, I was about to leave when I ran into someone, and I ended up accompanying them for a while." I said, not trying too hard to hide how much it annoys me how they ditched me
"Oh really? So who was it that you hung out with?" Ryunosuke said, smirking
"A girl named Rika Seto, she's in one of my classes." I said "And before you start getting smug about how you were trying to get me to find a person who I'd be interested in going out with, we're just friends, and nothing more."
"I'm more surprised that you hung out with Seto, she and her friend Mizushima are pretty well known." Eriko said
"Oh really?" I said
"Yeah, she's really friendly and sociable, and her friend Mizushima is a model. Not to mention the fact they are part of a really good dj group called Merm4id." Ryunosuke said "I guess she can even easily get past your resting bitch face."
"Huh. That's pretty cool." I said, not even giving him a response towards his joke. I get that my neutral expression looks like I'm annoyed, but still.
"Uh buddy, small piece of advice: you're so introverted that I don't think somebody super extroverted like her is a great match for you." Ryunosuke said
I sighed and headed to grab some clothes for the day as I said "I already told you we're just friends."
"Maybe that's all you want for now." Ryunosuke teased, smirking as I headed to the bathroom to change, embarrassed.

One Week Later...
As I sat in the back of the cafe that I work part time at, I continued to prepare orders until my boss came in and said "Y/n, there's gonna be a new part-timer who'll be here soon. Could you show her the ropes?"
Nodding, but not looking up from what I was doing, I said "Yeah, I can do that, boss."
"Great! I'll send her back when she gets here." he said before leaving
As we finally seemed to get caught up when it came to orders, I relaxed slightly when I saw the doors into the dining area open up, and the person I saw enter was Rika, who was smiling.
"Rika? What are you doing here?" I asked. I haven't had a chance to talk to Rika at all since I dropped her off at her place. I mean we're generally never in the same area, and when we are, I always end up worrying about bothering her while she is doing something.
"Hey Y/n, I'm gonna be working here" Rika said "And I was really surprised when the manager said that you were going to be the one to show me what to do."
"Yeah, although I certainly won't complain, I mean I've been wanting to talk to you again after all." I said "Follow me, we'll get this started. We'll start with the kitchen since this is where I usually am, but knowing the owner, he'll want to make me cover waiting on tables too."
"Alright, and that about covers everything." I said, stretching out and yawning.
"Right, that's nothing different." Rika said enthusiastically
"So you've done similar jobs before?" I asked
"Yeah, I actually have a ton of part time jobs, so this is nothing much." Rika said
"Wait, then why are you gonna be working here?" I asked. I mean this is the only job I have since I don't really need another.
"I gotta have money to party and go on trips with my besties from my DJ group, right? Gotta work hard to play hard and enjoy our time together while we still can!" Rika said
I felt a smile growing on my face as I said "True enough. So tell me, what kind of jobs have you done?"
Rika tilted her head and said "Lemme think... I've worked at housekeeping services, dentists, in costume at kid's shows, film extras, and even more unique ones like assistant at a detective agency."
"Dang, that's really cool." I said "To think you do all that, college classes, and your whole DJ thing." I said "That energy of yours is incredible."
"Thanks! I just get so motivated to keep working hard, thinking about all the fun I'll be able to have once it's done." Rika said "Oh, and you should come see the DJ group I'm in perform sometime! I'm sure we'll really get you hyped up!"
"My buddy mentioned that it's called Merm4id" I said "I'll love to see you girls perform sometime."
"Alright, then I'll be sure to tell you when we have a gig lined up!" Rika said
"Sounds good." I responded
Once I finished up with my shift and Rika's training was done for the day, we ended up deciding to walk part way home together again. I gotta say that this girl is really astounding, and I'm really interested in learning more about her.
Third Person Perspective
As Y/n and Rika walked home together, from a side street behind them, a girl with short, dark brown hair and glasses walked out, and as she noticed Y/n, she squinted her eyes, trying to confirm who she thought it was, then smiled before she said "I haven't seen Y/n in a while. Maybe I should say hello sometime soon."
