The Aftermath

Chapter Fourteen

We were all sat around in the garden later that evening, I had Railey sat on my lap while the boys were off doing their usual antics. The girls and I were sat around talking but I think we all know we need to watch what we say with Lucie about
"Look Railey, you're at the big girl table" Allie said making Railey smile before returning to play with the loose threat at the bottom of my shirt

"You're really good with her" Lucie said with a subtle smile on her face
"Of course she is, it's Hayden's littler sister" Cassidy said smiling at the pair of us 

"I know that" Lucie said rolling her eyes
"Railey!" Bethany called before Railey climbed off of my lap scurrying off while the boys finally finished their little game and headed back to us joining us
"Evening" Hayden chuckled kissing my cheek as he sat next to me
"Oh how nice of you to drop in" I teased as he stole a carrot stick off of my plate 

After a little while longer of hanging around in Hayden's garden, Bethany was trying to get Railey to sleep so we all headed out to our usual spot on the beach giving them no distractions 
Hayden had ran off to grab something from the car, Allie and Cassidy were off with Jason and Nathan leaving me alone with Lucie
The last thing I wanted

"I feel like you don't like me" She spoke up making me look at her with a raised brow
"What?" I asked
"I just get this feeling that you think I've done something?" She asked 

"Could have something to do with you talking to Josh about something I told you girls in confidence" I said making Lucie's eyes widen ever so slightly, to the point it was barely noticeable
"I'm not doing this right now. I'm not ruining Hayden's birthday with your petty drama but yes if you think I don't like you. That's on you but carry on the way you are going and you'll be right" I warned her before getting up and meeting Hayden halfway as he started walking back over here

"You said we could be friends right?" A voice said making me raise my head. I was sat in the library on free period when Josh came over looking a little flustered
"I did yes" I said watching as he took a seat in front of me
"Then I need to warn you" He said making me look at him confused

"Warn me about what?" I asked
"That Lucie girl is fucking psycho!" He exclaimed making me laugh
"Only just seeing that?" I asked but he narrowed his eyes
"Bryony, I'm trying to help you here. Keep up that sass and I'll leave you to fend for yourself" He said making me laugh 
"Okay okay" I retreated 

"She came over to me this morning claiming you told her what I told her. I mean I'm not mad at it, hell I don't blame you" He laughed
"But now she's on this hell bent mission to put you in your place" He said making me tilt my head looking at him confused
"To put me in my place?" I asked watching as he nodded

"She didn't go into much detail just that it involves you and Hayden." He said making me begin to chew the inside of my cheek

"I didn't like the guy for obvious reasons but I don't know what she's planning but I don't think it's anything good for either of you" He warned making me nod 
"Be careful alright?" He asked 
"thanks Josh" I smiled before retreating out the door again

I sat there for a moment thinking about it, I had no idea what she meant nor do I think I want to know, we'd only just gotten back on track and now we have another flaming gun pointed directly at our head
