camilo sighed as he fixed up his daughter's dress. he gave her a smile and kissed her on the forehead.

"you ready, mariposa?" he asked.

marina gave him a toothy grin and nodded, "mhm!"

camilo stood up from his position, smiling down at her. dolores was on his other side and perked up her ears. "mirabel says it's time," she spoke up making the two look at her.

camilo looked back at marina and gave her another kiss on the forehead. "i'll be at your door, okay?" he says before him and dolores left the room.

dolores stayed on the main floor while camilo went upstairs to stand by marina's door. he smiled at mirabel, who was the new candle holder after abuela had passed away, and she gave him a nod in response. he lets out a tired sigh, looking over to the right of him. y/n was supposed to be there with him but she was gone. she was gone before she could even witness her daughter's big day. camilo looked down sadly.

mirabel notices this and pats him on the shoulder. he looks back up at her. "i'm sure she'll be watching from above, primo," she assured him. camilo nodded, forcing a smile for her.

the lights went out and mirabel turned back around. she takes a deep breath before starting her speech. this was her first time as the candle holder and she wanted to live up to her abuela.

camilo zoned out for a majority of the speech and thought back to his deceased wife. it wasn't the same without her.

the curtains finally went up, revealing a grinny marina as the crowd clapped for her. camilo jumped out of his thoughts and looked down at her from above, a smile forming on his face. the little girl began to walk, making her way through to up the stairs.

after marina made her promise she went over to the glowing door. her tiny hands touched the handle and the door shined brighter. nothing else seemed to happen causing everyone else to murmer in confusion. marina frowned, looking up at her father for comfort. camilo sighs and crouched down to her height and grabbed her hands. "i'm sure it'll come soon, mariposa," he assured.

she nodded. "pa, i wish mama was here," marina mumbled back in response.

camilo's eyes widened slightly before he gave her a soft smile. "i know, mariposa, i know...." he muttered, caressing her small fingers with his thumb.

it was silent for a moment before the door glowed once more. marina looked back with anticipation. suddenly glitter appears in a form of a person next to the door. people watched with awe as the glitter slowly dies down.

camilo's eyes widened at the sight. it was her. she had came back. was it because of marina?

y/n's eyes slowly fluttered open. she looked confused for a moment and then realized where she was. she was taken back when marina suddenly hugged her legs. "mama!" she cried.

mirabel smiled as she realized what marina's gift was. tears were prickling in camilo's eyes and he took a step closer to y/n. he put a hand on her cheek, gasping lightly when he noticed that she was real and wasn't some sort of illusion. she was really back. he hugged her tightly with a choked sob. y/n smiled before hugging him back. people had small grins on their faces, watching as the reunited family embraced.

it was truly a miracle.
