Sambucky One Shots

Summary: Sam is out on a mission for days, Bucky misses him too much, worries for him, and just wants him back. When Sam comes back, he showers Bucky with all the love and care. Based on the prompt given by Depp_head_143

"Hey now, don't pout like a duckling, baby. I'll be safe and back before you even know it!" Sam tries to soothe his loving boyfriend before stepping out on a mission. This is the first time Sam is going alone, Bucky and he always go on missions together. This time it's a bit different, only Tony, Rhodey, Wanda, Dr. Strange, and Sam are going. Anyone who can fly or levitate is going, as on some deserted island, there is a 'crazy scientists making weaponized avian hybrids' situation going on. It might take about a week for Sam to come back, and Bucky has never been more anxious in his life. He doesn't want his lover to leave, too afraid that Sam will get hurt. 

"Promise me that you'll stay safe, yeah? Please be careful." Bucky whispers, planting one last kiss on Sam's lips before he leaves for a whole week.

"I'll be safe, sweetheart," Sam assures Bucky for the seventeenth time. "You take care of yourself and don't worry about me, yeah? I'll come back home soon." another kiss and Sam is flying away, a drop of worry-filled tear runs down Bucky's face. He doesn't know why he's so tensed, neither he can shoo away the feeling. But he'll have to try, for himself and Sam.

It has already been three days without Sam, three painful days, and two nights filled with nightmares and little to no amount of sleep. Bucky's subconscious mind keeps telling him that something bad is going to happen, and no matter how much he scolds himself or how many punching bags he ruins to get rid of that thought, he just cannot seem to get it out of his brain. He tries everything, going out shopping, hanging out with Sarah and her boys, and playing video games with Peter. His worries won't dissipate even an ounce.

Sam is his anchor, the person who holds him close at night and helps him fall asleep. The person who wakes up with him every morning and brushes his hair, who makes the best coffee and tea, who gives him all the love and affection. Without Sam, the air around Bucky feels too heavy, suffocating him. 

"I miss you too much Sam. I never thought I'd feel like not being able to breathe without you by my side, but here I am, can't even spend a week without you." Bucky runs his fingers over the photo frame by their bedside table, Sam and his bright smiling faces from that photo making his heartache even more. He just wants his angel back.

Today Sam is finally coming back, finally, Bucky's waiting will be over. He cant decipher how he's feeling- happy, ecstatic, anxious- he doesn't know. He has already made all of Sam's favorite dishes and has arranged a vanilla-scented bubble bath for both of them, just the way his lover likes. 

A knock on the front door alerts Bucky, making him sprint to the door and open it, and Sam is there. His falcon, his captain America, his soulmate is there- just a few tiny scratches on his face, no injuries, safe. Bucky jumps in Sam's inviting, open arms and almost clings to him like a koala. Burying his face in Sam's neck, he breaths in the scent that grounds his racing mind. Sam chuckles softly and peels Bucky away from himself just a little bit so that he can kiss him. And they kiss each other to their hearts' content until they need to move apart for air. 

"I told you, baby, I'll be safe. How have you been?" Sam brushes his thumb over Bucky's kiss swollen bottom lip, making him close his eyes and let out a content sigh. "I've been in pain, without you. But I'm better now." Bucky answers truthfully. Sam's eyes become softer, and he pulls his lover close for another hug. "I'm here now, and I'll take care of you, love." 

Soon enough, Bucky finds himself in his lovers' lap, sitting in their bathtub surrounded by bubbles. "Sam, you must be tired, I should be the one bathing you, not the other way around!" 

"I'm never tired when I'm taking care of you. My baby was so sad cause I was gone, gotta shower my baby with all the love I have in my heart." Sam nuzzles his face in Bucky's neck, making him squirm a bit at the ticklish feeling.

And Sam does shower Bucky with all the love and care he has in his heart, from bathing and feeding him to cuddling him to sleep, a peaceful sleep, together.
