KATE WALLACE WAS THE TYPE OF GIRL that every parent wished they had. Incredibly well-mannered, kind, intelligent, and respectful, Kate had rarely ever been caught up in any kind of trouble. The teenage girl lead a perfectly normal life in Hawkins, Indiana, residing with her two parents in a beautiful house located in Loch Nora. Although this girl was perfectly content on the outside, she felt herself growing bored of her incredibly structured, almost pre-planned life. She didn't know exactly what she wanted to do to change it, but she knew she wanted something more.

EDDIE MUNSON WAS THE TYPE OF BOY that every parent despised. Reckless, wild, daring, and passionate, Eddie was a teenage metalhead who lived for the thrill of live. Head of the Hellfire Club, Hawkins High School's D&D club, Eddie was hated by those who didn't understand him, which seemed to be almost everyone in Hawkins. However, those few who did understand him, absolutely loved him.

There are two more things you should know about Kate Wallace and Eddie Munson.

Number one, they hardly ever spoke. Since their lives never seemed to cross paths, the two teenagers had remained complete strangers all throughout high school. Of course, they knew of each other, and of their reputations, but this only kept them further apart.

Number two, that all changed at the beginning of their senior year, during one mistakingly thrilling night in the fall of 1985.
