Chapter 13 - Ruby Keeps Us Hungry And I Feel Like Someone Is Pouring Acid On My Arm.

"Say whatever you want to eat," Ruby ordered.

"Chhole Kulche" squealed Naya.

"Chhole Bhature!" said Nelv.

"Pizza!" I and Helly squealed with excitement.

Ruby made a growl of annoyance.

"No FAST FOOD! Eat something LIGHT!" she yelled.

She waved her hands around our plates and all the food vanished.

Everyone groaned.

"Come on," I said. "Does it matter that much?"

"Yeah!" she said, sass oozing from her tone.

"Chapatti and paneer." I said.

"Idli - Sāmbhar." said Helly mournfully.

"Dosa - Matar." said Nelv.

"Bread - Mayonnaise, fried potato and wine." said Naya.

Everyone stared at her. She glanced around, confused.

"What?"

"Wine?" I said incredulously.

"Curse them..." she muttered.

Soon, her wine was replaced by Sprite.

"I cannot understand what these mortals have invented today!" she muttered, thinking that no one heard her.

I was suspicious. I was getting that Naya was a puzzle to be solved but the puzzle pieces were missing. I couldn't solve a puzzle with missing pieces!

"Get ready for your classes." Ruby's voice interrupted my train of thoughts.

She left the table. I glanced at my watch.

6:45.

"Guys, I've got to tell you something."

They all looked at me.

"I was reading this book today. The name was History of Souls. And, I found some interesting information.

Before I share the information, can anyone remind me of the first riddle Aneia gave us?"

"The riddles to open the box? Those riddles?" asked Nelv.

I nodded.

"What's inside you
Yet you can't see it.
Everything is new
But this is really old." said Nelv.

Everyone stared at him.

"What? I have a good memory."

I rolled my eyes.

"Anyways, I think I know the answer to the riddle." Helly stared at me curiously.

"What is the answer?"

"Soul," I answered. Naya's eyes widened. Nelv stared at me, confused.

"How?"

"'What's inside you, Yet you can't see it.'" I recited.

"Our souls are inside us and we cannot see our souls."

"Diane, listen to me. All our internal organs are inside us and we can't see them. Why is the answer 'soul'?" Asked Helly.

I smiled. "And, that is why, I will recite the final verse. 'Everything is new, but this is really old.' When a human body is formed, the internal organs are new.
