“I am no sister of yours.” Naya replied stiffly.
Dark Lord, also known as Jack, smiled at her crookedly.
“I couldn’t destroy Monastasia and Earth in one go. But, I can kill your oh-so-best friends.” He said so simply that no one would suspect he was talking about killing us.
Naya narrowed her eyes.
“You wouldn’t dare.” She said threateningly.
No one had any idea what the freaking hell they both were talking about. We had no idea why Dark Lord was so keen on killing Naya’s best friends. He didn’t say a word about killing Diane’s best friends.
“Try me.”
When their swords clashed, it didn’t seem like they were fighting. They were dancing. They somehow knew each other’s move.
Behind them, Beth stood, with her new minions.
“Attack.” A deadly calm voice whispered.
The click of heels could be heard as everyone made way for her.
And then, she came into view.
I had dreams about her. But, she never showed her face in any of those.
She was very beautiful. Her structure was perfect. She was the definition of perfection.
She had lightning-blue eyes and midnight-black hair. She hadn’t tied her hair. She was wearing a black outfit with 5-inch heels. I had no idea how exactly was she able to walk in those death traps.
With her voice coated with honey, she said, “Long time no see, Aunt Jacky. I can’t believe that you haven’t yet told them ‘bout your true identity. Stop hiding your identity, Aunt.”
She looked straight at Naya, who had stopped fighting the Dark Lord because of Theodora’s arrival.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
At that, she sighed.
“Fine.”
And then, as quick as lightning, a ball of fire shot towards all of us.
My stomach turned.
Something told me to just lift my hands.
I was about to follow my instinct when I heard a faint “Sorry” before four swords cut through the balls, destroying them.
I blinked.
In the place where Naya previously stood, was taken by a girl with small horns on her raven-black hair.
I stared at her in shock.No.
Jacques.
Naya was Jacques. Jacques was Naya.
You’ll lose your best friend, who’s a spy, in killing him. The words spoken by the mysterious voice in Chapter One rang in my ears.
“Helly was suspicious of your perfection.” I scoffed. Tears were beginning to fill my eyes but I tried to blink them away.
“I ignored her suspicions and the signals. If things like this happen, then people will stop trusting their friends. You did a good job in making history, Jacques.” I said her name with so much venom that she winced.
