Chapter 43 - I Hate My Subconscious 'Cause She Thinks That-Sam's ho-Shut Up Subconscious!

Understatement of the century, I'm a Fire E-Mag.

Yeah.

Theodora stared at me with surprise and a bit of horror clear in her eyes.

"She couldn't share blood with me." She mumbled. "She couldn't share blood with me."

She repeated that sentence five more times. She was antsy.

"Theodora," Cavaressa groaned.

"Don't you understand? SHE COULDN'T SHARE BLOOD WITH ME!" She yelled.

Her behaviour reminded me of a psychopathic person, a mentally disordered person.

Why did she do all this?

More than wanting victory, I wanted answers. I wanted to know her side of the story.
d-" Just as I started to say, a huge ball of fire blasted into me. I flew backwards and my head hit the ground.

I groaned as pain shot through me.

"Diane!" Sam yelled as he tried to approach me.
However, Theodora used another ball of fire which prevented him from reaching me.

I felt dizzy as I stood up. I summoned the fire.

I shot it towards Cavaressa. Doing that to Theodora wouldn't cause her any harm.

However, seems like I didn't know Cavaressa as much as I thought I did.

She could control all the elements.

She raised her hands and tried to suck the oxygen out of her surroundings. Unfortunately for her and fortunately for us, she was exhausted and injured. She couldn't do what she wanted to do.

The ball of fire slammed into her and she groaned, dropping to the ground again.

Theodora narrowed her eyes.

That's the moment I realised something about fire.

Fire could only destroy. It couldn't protect anyone.

Theodora couldn't protect her best friend even if she tried using her powers.

That's what she lacked.

And therefore, I decided to attack Cavaressa.

I sent another fireball her way while Theodora ordered her dragon to attack us.

The bloody dragon blew fire again.

A few magicians dropped to the ground as the fire hit them.

As I looked at my surroundings, I realised that almost everything was burning around me.

"Diane," Dylan had stopped beside me and was speaking very seriously. "This amount of fire in one place, especially on Monastasia, wouldn't go unnoticed by the Creator of Fire. Summon Fiera."

I gaped at him.

"But, how?"

He thought for a moment before saying, "Get Sam. Tell Arya to lead the magicians right now and distract the dragon and Theodora. Oh, and don't forget Cavaressa. She's an intelligent bitch. Even injured, she can be quite lethal."

I nodded and ran towards Arya.

She was busy fighting some Zeldras. As soon as she killed them, I said, "Arya, lead the magicians. I give this responsibility to you. Distract Theodora, her dragon and her bitch."

"By bitch, you mean Cavaressa, right?" She asked, amused.

I nodded.

I ran towards Sam. He was planning with other Water E-Mags.

"Sam," I called. His eyes visibly brightened, the hope in it more prominent than before.

Something broke inside me.

They all trusted me. They all believed that I had some plan to rescue them, to protect our planet.

They were hopeful because of me. They thought that I was the hope they needed.

I barely held my tears.

"We need you for a moment. Please, excuse us." So saying, I grabbed his hand and we both ran towards where Dylan stood.

Panting slightly, I said, "Tell us your ingenious plan."

***

Turns out that Sam was a professional in controlling liquids.

Yeah, puny mortals, you heard it right.

My dear Sam could control all of the liqu-

Wait. Where did my dear come from?

Oh gods, I'm being driven insane. Help me.

Anyways, he literally made the oil ooze out of the ground.

Hot a-Wait, shut up, subconscious.

So, Dylan's ingenious plan involved oil and fire.

I hope that the rest can be figured out.

He made the oil fly all over the ground.

Feeling that my fire would ruin the fun, I pulled out a matchbox out of my pocket.

"TicTacs?" Dylan demanded.

I stared at him flatly.

"Dylan," I slowly drew out all the syllables. "We are in the middle of a freaking war. Just say 'fuck off' to your urge to suck TicTacs and concentrate on summoning the dead."

So saying, I struck the matchstick against the box and the matchstick caught fire.

Grinning like a murdering maniac, I let the lit matchstick drop from my fingers.

The oil caught fire and more things burned.

Making two balls of fire dance while levitating on my palms, I faced the sky.

"Fiera," I made my voice strong but not loud as I spoke in Monastese. I don't know why, but Monastese kind of came to me naturally. "I, daughter of Sarahhizan and the granddaughter of your best friend, summon you on this battlefield to do justice!"

As soon as I stopped saying, I extinguished the fire and concentrated on the dead. I felt them close.

Seems like Dy did his work.
