Sometimes we make the process more complicated than we need to

Sometimes we make the process more complicated than we need to. We will never make a journey of a thousand miles by fretting about how long it will take or how hard it will be. We make the journey by taking each day step by step and then repeating it again and again until we reach our destination.

-------

Things have been going more than smoothly in my revenge plan. So well that my father hasn't even realized that he was slowly losing his allies.

The final piece in my plan was to get Mariano Salazar on my side. He's my father's friend and our biggest foreign investor and shareholder. Because he's both Cuban and Argentinian, we've done many deals in those two countries. And at the upcoming business party, we are going to discuss a project of 500 million dollars.

Striking this project and getting Mariano on my side would be a total win. Because after that I would hold a meeting with the shareholders and announce my decision to take over the company.

It was a perfect plan and the idea of getting revenge for my mother gave me the motivation to keep going.

There is someone who wasn't part of my plan. Sophia.

Somehow she managed to slide into my life subtly but with quite a bit of impact.

Before I realized it she was already taking my mornings and afternoons. Yet, I can't blame her for anything because I enjoy her presence as well.

I keep telling myself that she's becoming a good friend. Not that close to what Marcus means to me but slowly towards it.

To be honest I don't remember the last time I had a friend from the opposite gender. They would usually seek something from me and that made a friendship impossible.

But for some unknown reason, Sophia acted differently.

She would look at you in the eyes when having a conversation to reassure you that you have her whole attention.

She never tried to initiate any kind of physical contact or try to flirt with me. Instead, she uses a kind tone and even kinder words when she has a conversation.

For some strange reason, it bothered me that she treated me the same way she did with Marcus. It feels like I want her full attention and that's selfish of me.

Seeing her lost in thought and looking down made my chest tighten. It has been a while since I felt that bad for someone.

All I wanted at that moment was to do anything to make her sadness go away.

A very strange feeling that I decided to ignore since I was probably giving it unnecessary attention.

When I saw her hurt after she fell off the treadmill I panicked. I haven't done so since my mother's death.
