I'm sitting with Wanda, sipping tea. and dad says over the coms, "all right, what do you see?" and Wanda says, "standard beat cops. small station. quiet street." and I say, "it's a good target." and dad says, "there's an ATM on the south corner, which means?" and I say, "cameras." and dad says, "both cross streets are one way." and Wanda says, "so, compromised escape routes." and dad says, "it means our guy doesn't care about being seen. he isn't afraid to make a mess on the way out. you see that range rover halfway up the back?" and Wanda says, "yea. the red one? it's cute." and I laugh and mama says, "it's also bulletproof, which means private security, which means more guns. which means more headaches for somebody. probably us." and I nod and Wanda asked, "you guys know I can move things with my mind, right?" and we take a sip of the tea. and mom says, "looking over your shoulder needs to become second nature." and Sam asks mom, "did anyone ever tell you that you're a little paranoid?" and mom says, "not to my face. why did you hear something?" and I say, "eyes on the target, folks. this is the best lead we've had on Rumlow in six months. Dad probably doesn't wanna lose him." and Sam scoffs and says, "if he sees us coming, that won't be a problem. he kind of hates us." and I laughed a bit. and dad says, "Sam. see that garbage truck? tag it." and he sends red wing under the truck and Sam says, "that truck's loaded for max weight and the driver's armed." and mom says, "it's a battering ram." and I say, "go now." and Wanda says, "what?" and I say, "he's not hitting the police." and me and Wanda land with her magic and she says, "Sam," and she holds the guy up for him to punch and we all meet up and Sam says, "Rumlow is on the third floor." and dad/Cap says, "Wanda, like we practiced. Selena, come with me." and Wanda asked dad, "what about the gas?" and dad says, "get it out." (gas bombs). and she lifts me and dad into the building and dad and I kick some ass. and I say, "Rumlow has the weapon." and mom says, "I'm on it." and we got blasted and we flew to the back of the room and we groan in pain. and we jump out of the building. and dad says, "Sam," and I say, "he's in an AFV heading north." and Sam flies after them and says, "I got four. they're splitting up." and mom says, "I got 2 on the left." and I say, "dad. they lost their gear. it's a shell game now. one of them has the payload." and dad got hit and Rumlow said, "there you are you son of a bitch! I've been waiting for this!" and attack's dad
And I hear, "he doesn't have it. I'm empty!" and I say, "it's okay, Sam! keep looking!" and I run with mom and one of the guys we're battling has the weapon. he says to us, "drop the guns. or I'll drop this." and he holds it up. and red wing shots a man and so does mom and I catch the bottle. Mom says, "thanks Sam." and he says, "don't thank me." and she says, "I'm not thanking that thing." and I say, "his name is red wing." and Sam says, "he's cute, go ahead, pet him." and I smile and laugh and I pet him. and I say, "red wing is my bestie. now, focus guys." and we get going. and I run to dad and Rumlow and they're fighting each other. and I heard Rummlow say, "this is for dropping a building on my face." and I yell, "dad!" and now Rumlow is on his knees and I stand beside dad and he grips Rumlow's jacket and says, "I think I look good. All things considered." and I rolled my eyes and say, "who's your buyer?" and he looks at us and says, "you know, he knew you guys. your pal, your buddy, your bucky." and I nearly choke him and say, "what did you just say?" and he said, "he remembered you. I was there. he got all weepy about it. until they put his brain back in a blendar. he wanted you to know something, he said to me, 'please tell Selena, when you gotta go, you gotta go.' and you're coming with me." and he presses the button and Wanda stopped it from spreading the fire with her magic. and she accidentally hit the floors of the building. and I say, "Sam. we need fire and rescue. on the south side of the building. we gotta get up there."
at the compound.
everyone's watching the news of our incident. I'm watching with Wanda and I see dad turn off the tv and I grab Wanda's hand. she says, "it's my fault." and dad says, "it's not true." and she says, "turn the tv back on. they're being very specific." and dad says, "I should've clocked that bomb vest long before you had to deal with it." and he says, "Rumlow said, 'Bucky' and I was a 16 year old kid again, in Broklynn. and people died. it's on me." and I say, "it's on both of us." and dad says, "this job..we try to save as many people as we can. sometimes that doesn't mean everybody. but if we can't find a way to live with that, then next time, maybe nobody gets saved." and vis walked in the door and we laugh and he said the secretary is here and I grab their hands and I say, "hey. the mission might not have gone as planned, but I'm proud of you both anyways. I love you both." and they smile and hug me.
