1 week forward
I am boarding the flight to go back home Texas. Oufff so many memories. I came to Washington D.C. a few years ago after I finished college with my 3 best friends, Sunvi, Esha, and Dia . But Esha and Dia got married and went to live with their husbands and Sunvi well she got engaged last month. She is getting married in 2 months. I am gonna living alone then *sighs*. I still remember when they said I will be the first one to get married when we were in middle but look at this, all of us are married except me well almost married. Anyways I go back every 3 months to meet my parents and siblings. I walked into first class and sat down.
2 hours and 30 mins later
"Finally I am here" I said to myself. As soon as I got out of the airport I saw my parents and siblings and ran to hug them. "Oh my god, ahhh I missed you guys" I said to them. "We missed you too di(sister)" Dhruvika and Rohan said. "We also missed you beta" my parents said.
"Arre vaah(oh wow) my Dallas has changed" I said looking around "Anshu di it's been 3 months only" Rohan said "or to kya hua ( and so what)" I said. "I still miss my Dallas a lot." "Okay Okay di, Sorry YOUR Dallas has changed a lot in these last 3 months." he said. "Haan Haan (yeah yeah) make fun of me, but don't forget I am your elder sister okay?" I said to him. "theek hai, bahut ho gaya bachchon, chalo ab ghar chalate hain(okay that's enough kids let's go home now)" my mom said. "Let's go" I said cause you I am the most mature one, hehehe.
At night, Dinner time
We ordered food because mom was too tired to cook and well me, I don't know how to cook. Even in Washington Sunvi always cooks so. "Mom, I am ordering non-veg sizzler, butter chicken 3 portions, Daal and Naan, Is that enough/" I said looking at my mom ordering it. "Anshu beta, we want to talk to about something" dad said "Are pahale batao itana kaaphee hai?(first tell me is that enough?)" I said "Yes Anshu, that's enough" my mom said.
"Okay I ordered it, yeah now tell me" I said finally looking at them. "Umm beta we think you should start thinking about marriage," my dad said "WHAT, mom, dad yarr no I am not ready yet, my career is going so well I wanna focus on that right now" I said. I know I am 27 but no I am not ready. "Beta look if you have any boyfriend then you can tell us." mom said " oh god no mom, I am not dating anyone" I told her. Why do they think I am dating someone. "Then what is the problem beta." "I just don't want to get married" "But beta, we have a boy selected for you" " MOM, yarr seriously without asking me" "We are asking you right now, beta even Esha and Dia are married and Sunvi is engaged." "Mom no please yarrr nahi(No), Stop comparing me to my friends." "Beta we are getting old, let us at least see some of our grandchildren" dad said. "Just meet him and then decide, we won't push you." "Di you should just see him one time, he is actually very nice." My sister Duggu said , who was quite this whole time. I sighed.
Marriage I never thought about it after I gradated, before graduation all I thought about was love, boys. But then I grew up I guess. And those kinda things didn't matter anymore. It was just study study study or work work work. " Am I ready for this?" I mentally asked myself.
It's been 9 years since I let myself fall in love. If I ever felt needy or needed to get relief, I just had a one night stand. My parents never knew about this or the would have disowned me I sarcastically laughed in my head. But my 3 best friends did. Do I really want to do this? Fall in love, be vulnerable, and let my walls down. I don't know. I guess I could just meet him.
"Tell me more about him" I said to them "He is a Businessman, Owner of Reddy Textiles & Reddy Shots, and is also a lawyer beta just like you, he comes from a very respected family" "Do you guys have a photo of him?" I asked. As soon as I said that everyone had a smile on their face. "Oh yes beta here" My mom said
