A/N: Happy Birthday, Shitty Dazai~ (June 19)

This work has Stormbringer Light Novel spoilers and Dazai-typical suicide and death mentions

There was nothing unusual about Boss asking one of his subordinates to stay back after a meeting.

In fact, it was a rather frequent occurrence. After pretty much every work meeting, be it with the top five executives, or just the sub-squad leaders, Mori often asked someone or the other to stay behind. Usually, it was to discuss performances. Which, naturally was an implication that the person in question was lacking in their work, and their inadequacies just might get them killed.

As expected of the Port Mafia boss, Mori Ougai was never hesitant to get rid of useless trash.

Hence obviously, it was kind of nerve-wracking when somebody was asked to stay back after a conference. Now, Chuuya has been asked to stay back loads of times; considering his past and the documents he was looking to get his hands upon. Moreover, he had the misfortune of being partners with a really shitty guy, who very often skipped very important meetings. So, for some twisted reason, Boss always decided to ask Chuuya about where that shitty Dazai might be, and why he skipped the meeting.

How the fuck was Chuuya supposed to know, damn it?! It's not like he was with that bastard all the time. That shitty guy was like a fucking stray cat. He wandered into Chuuya's apartment as he pleased, got his bandaged hands on the food in Chuuya's fridge, and then left to go back to wherever the fuck he came from. It's not like he ever considered Chuuya's feelings, or told him any important stuff about himself!

It's not like Chuuya was any special as compared to other Mafia members when it came to Dazai Osamu. That guy did whatever he felt like doing, always being so inconsiderate of Chuuya. Speaking of which, wasn't it unbelievable that Chuuya hasn't been to Dazai's place even once?! Wasn't that rude? Weren't they supposed to be partners? But no, Chuuya couldn't even figure out where that annoying fish lived, damn it.

Presently, the gravity manipulator was pulled out of his high velocity train of thought when the Boss coughed to get his attention. Oh, right. He was asked to stay back after a meeting, which had just finished. And Dazai forgot to attend said important meeting. It really didn't take a genius to figure out why Chuuya had been asked to stay back, really.

Mori laced his fingers together, eyes fixed on his subordinate in front of him, "Ah, Chuuya-kun."

Suppressing his curses at his shitty partner, Chuuya partly grimaced in response, "Yes, Boss."

For a few seconds, the older man said nothing. Then he merely offered the other a sly smile, "You should go visit Dazai-kun."

Chuuya blinked, "Visit him? What for?"

Naturally, he'd been expecting to be questioned about his partner's whereabouts, and silly questions like why he had decided not to attend the meeting. This, now, was unforeseen. It was strange, right? Why was Boss saying something like that?

Mori shrugged, "It's his birthday today, I believe."

Chuuya couldn't help but exclaim aloud, "It's his birthday?! Who's, Dazai's?"

The boss smiled again, "Ah, but of course."

Cursing that bastard under his breath, Chuuya bowed deeply, "Right. I'm going to go then."

After having been dismissed by his leader, the mafioso turned on his heels and walked out of the conference room. As expected of him, he screamed out a long string of profanities as soon as he was out of the Boss' hearing range.
