"Tom can you bring me that box?" Dan asked me in another room. I stood up and walked over to a small cardboard box in my room, picked it up and took it to Tom. I saw him rummaging through another box, looking for something.

"Oh good, lemme see the box" Dan said as I put the box on the ground and opened it. He began looking through that box now, trying to find something

"Wait, I think this is it. Yes I found it!" Dan said as he pulled out a small USB drive

"What is it?" I asked

"Its our old game. You remember The Backrooms right?" Dan asked me

"Of course, why wouldn't it? It was our only good game" I said

"Oh come on, we had other good games" Dan said

"Yeah whatever buddy. Didn't we release that game like a month ago or something?" I asked

"Yeah I think so" Dan said

"Well has anyone played it yet?" I asked

"I don't know, it's been a month since I last checked. Lemme check it now" Dan said as he stood up and walked to his computer. He turned it on and went to check the game stats, and we were both surprised as to what we saw

"Oh my gosh, is that real?" I asked

"Hell yeah it is, over a thousand people are playing our game" Dan said as he looked through the stats more

"And how much is this game selling for?" I asked

"Like 10 dollars each" Dan responded with

"So with over a thousand purchases, we made 10,000 dollars so far" I said, and we now both realized what was going on. We were rich, and now our game was popular. We both celebrated this achievement by shouting a screaming, happy that we had finally done something with our lives, and finally becoming something.

1 MONTH LATER

With each and every day passing of our game existing, the more me and Dan get rich, and the more things seem to get easier, like someone is doing all the hard work for us, even though it's only the two of us, but with every good thing there is a bad thing. For some reason, I keep seeing the same thing on the news, people going missing more and more each day. But it wasn't like this before our game was released, but I'll leave that to the officers. Now although me and Dan make around two thousand dollars a day now, we still live in the same office we've been in ever since our fist game, which has surprisingly gone a bit popular too if I may say. With what's going on in there world, that won't stop me or Dan, because we want to continue making these games, and no matter what stands in our way, we'll continue to do so.

I walked into the lounge and saw Dan already there, watching the news and sipping a beer.

"You watching the news again?" I asked him

"Hell yeah, but it's the same fucking thing every time. More and more disappearances I tell you They don't stop coming" Dan said

"Well I've looked into it, and the disappearance rates have practically doubled these past two weeks. It's crazy. Who could be responsible for this?" I asked

"I don't know, and I probably shouldn't care" Dan said as he looked back to the TV, and I walked back to my office. I walked in and sat on my desk and opened up my computer. I looked through the game files and opened up The Backrooms game, deciding to play it for myself. After playing it for a few minutes, I felt a tingle inside me, like something was pulling me closer to the computer, like a magnet. I pulled myself back and saw Dan, who had just walked into my office to see what I was doing
