        The next day started with a very colorful breakfast. A luxury we've never had before. After breakfast and everyone went upstairs to finish unpacking I pulled Edwin aside and asked him if it was possible if he could teach us how to use our newfound power safely. He said yes and told me to gather everyone and meet him in the living room. I did as he instructed and had everyone downstairs within the hour. " This way." He said and started walking towards the basement. " Where are we going?" Asked the twins.  We are going to help strengthen ourselves by practicing magik." Edwin replied, smiling. We had reached a massive door possibly thick enough to withstand the biggest of explosions. " Here we are." Edwin said as he tapped on the enormous door and blue engraved letters appeared and we were met with a light blue portal small enough to fit one adult male. " In, you go." He said gesturing us inside.

Through the portal we were met by a classroom-like area but it didn't really feel like it. " In order to do magik you have to understand how it works, especially since magik and essence are different from each other. Here, sit down. This room was created by my essence, which is spatial manipulation." Edwin explained as four chairs appeared each one holding the same crest shape that is on our hands.
" Let's talk about essence, Essence is a power given to us by ancient beings called Earshas. These beings only appear every 1200 years giving essence to those they deem worthy. Essence can be passed down from generation to generation. Sometimes essence can merge together depending on its compatibility."

             As Edwin explained I glanced down at my right arm at the bright green flower and vines that almost reached my chin. Curious, I touched it and it started to glow brighter and brighter until my grimoire appeared. " As Vara has now  demonstrated, tapping your crest once will summon your grimoire.  If you tap it twice your grimoire will shift into its sentient  form tapping it three times will make it return toyour crest." We taped our crest twice and a flash of silver, red, and green appeared as our grimoires changed shape.         

Jonah's grimoire had changed into wispy black smoke with two glowing gray eyes. Liam's grimoire had changed into a war helm with deep red eyes. Lia's had changed into a red vampire bat. Last but not least mine had turned into a lush rock golem. " Let's discuss runes, Runes are symbols that react to both essence and mana." He explained once we had put our grimoires back into our crests.
     
"Rune Creation: To write these runes you use a special tool called: A  Sheel Blade. These blades are curved and only react to essence. Once activated by one's essence type the Sheel cannot be used by anyone else." He said pulling out four curved blades with carved writing on them.

"When a rune is carved onto an ordinary object or appliance it becomes an artifact or a magic Item." Edwin handed them out and as he said once we touched it it glowed the color of our essence. " Do not worry, these blades cannot cut plants or flesh of any kind. Now, back to essence, Essence varies in categories called Essence Types. There are many different types of essence but the main 6 are: Elemental, Extraterrestrial, Spatial, Animal, Binding, and Environmental." As he explained this he wrote down each type of essence and showed us how as well. " I know this has been a lot so let's wrap up training for today. We'll discuss more about magik tomorrow. But remember these are just the basics. To learn majik combat and skills you'll have to go to the most prestigious magik school in all of Avaria."
