When the final bell rang, Kordell sprung out of his seat and scampered toward the bus, almost forgetting his bag. When he got on the bus, Dave had signed "how are you?" to Kordell, but Kordell had no idea what this meant and ignored it; he merely smiled and found an empty seat at the back of the bus. Dave felt kind of hurt that Kordell ignored him, but then realized it only made sense that Kordell wouldn't have bothered to learn sign language.
