After school, Kordell texted Bryant to meet him at the park at 4 o'clock, and that's what happened. Together they walked along the trails, as Bryant recited a funny story that happened to him at lunch. Kordell was hanging onto his every word, nodding here and there and even letting out a few giggles. Bryant couldn't believe that Kordell was veritably listening to him.
"You've been pretty quiet, did anything interesting happen to you today?" asked Bryant, when he was finished telling his story.
"No, not really," replied Kordell, staring intently at the sky, as they continued walking down the muddy, dirt road in silence. It wasn't an awkward silence, but a silence that didn't need to be filled with words.
