CHAPTER 1: Portal

Arthur P.O.V.

After saying goodbye to Alaric I went my own way In hopes of reaching the Dicathen soon

Walking through the forest in the central dominion I had to admit that it was beautiful, second only to the Elshire forest, at least back when it still existed, but I couldn't enjoy the sight, after all, all these plants reminded me of her and the state she was in when I found her

While thinking about it my heart started to ache and a single tear appeared in my eye, threatening to fall and break the dam that was holding my emotions and memories I tried to forget, to hide from, for all these years.

And to my disappointment, it succeeds. I started to sob uncontrollably and my eyes were now full of tears. In the silence of the forest that was the only thing that could be heard. Right now I am not a Lance, reincarnator, or a king, right now, I am just a boy that is in pain from losing his loved one

Memories of that day resurfaced, how much pain she was in, how scared she was... how useless I was

' Are you okay princess?' visibly worried Regis asked me through our mental link

Taking a couple of deep breaths I recomposed myself before answering him' Yeah, I am fine Regis ' 

Ever since I lost Sylv and ended up in Alcarya, Regis was here with me, and if he wasn't  I would have probably killed myself the moment I woke up. After all this time I got better and not as depressed and suicidal as before but even so, his worry is not baseless, after her death I closed myself and was open only to my family and the closest of friends like gramps, Tess, and Lilia, but after my daughter, Sylvie, sacrificed herself to save me, I closed off my heart completely and returned to my personality from my past life, I became Grey once again

After an hour of walking, I found and entered a secluded cave and decided that I should go to the relictombs through there

It was just a regular cave, not illuminated at all so I had to create an aether orb and use it as a light source, this was one of the moments when I wished I could still manipulate mana

Coming to the end of the cave I took out the relic from my dimensional rune and channeled aether through it

When the portal opened, I went through it and arrived in the zone 

It was a weird zone, to say the least, the ground was sand just like a desert while above it were trees just like in the forest. While in shades it was as cold as it would be on the coldest night in winter out of them was easily over 40 degrees Celsius

' well this one is the weirdest on until now for sure' Regis commented as he leaped out of my body

He was in his wolf form that could make even the strongest of the mana beasts look like a teddy bear. Black fur that was darker than the night itself covered his body, instead of regular mane, he had blazing purple flames of destruction and even though I knew it won't be able to hurt me, it still looked intimidating. His eyes shone bright purple and even without pupils I could tell that he was looking directly at my eyes

' So what's the plan now?' he asked

Thinking about it for a second I decided on our course of actions

" While activating the relic I imagined a zone which had a portal that would end up leading us to the Dicathen, so there should be a portal that could lead us there." I said and made a pause to make sure that Regis is following

"Therefore, we will be looking for it and once we find it, we will go back home"

Regis just nodded and started following me
