CHAPTER 3: Cynthia Goodsky

Arthur Leywin POV:

"Everyone, I want you to meet the director of the Xyrus academy, Cynthia Goodsky!" uncle Vincent announced pridefully as if I didn't reject going to Xyrus last night

Cynthia came forward, giving me a look of interest. She wore her usual purple robe and hat with a wand attached to her side.

For a moment all we were doing was just staring at each other, but no, it was more than that. We were gauging each other's power. After a moment she let out a loud gasp, living her mouth wide open. Composing herself in no time, she held out her hand " It is nice to finally meet you, Arthur Leywin" 

Not wanting to get chewed on by mom like last time, I got on one knee and kissed the director's hand

"It is nice to meet you as well, Director Goodsky" I said and gave her a slight bow

After realizing what was happening mom also got on a knee and greeted the director

" Di-director, if you don't mind me asking, what have you come here for?" mom asked even though she has probably already guessed a reason

Director turned her head toward mom and gave her a reassuring smile " Actually, Vincent has earlier informed me that in his house is currently living a first-class genius augmenter so I came to check it out, after all, Vincent has helped me a lot during the last couple of years" she said before giving one more look

For a moment there was an awkward atmosphere in the room

 Lilia was biting her lower lip, frustrated, or rather jealous that I  was a mage with a bright future while it is not even certain that she will awake as a mage

' Little does she know' said Regis 

Unt Tabitha was giving uncle Vincent a' now you've done it' look, while mom and dad had an excited, yet perplexed look, not sure if they are happy for me getting this chance or sad that I might leave them so soon

Ellie looked confused since she had no way of knowing what was going on around her 

" Don't worry, Rey, Alice, I didn't call the director Goodsky to take Arthur away, I just called her here so she can check his potential, and maybe even reserve him a spot in her academy for the future" uncle Vincent tried to reassure my parents after seeing what kind of reaction they were having

" O-okay" mom said with weak and relived voice while dad just nodded

Throughout all of this director Goodsky stayed silent, realizing that there is a lot that we have gone through and that what she is seeing right now, are some of the wounds that are yet to be healed

" Okay, " It was uncle Vincetns voice that broke the heavy, awkward silence that was slowly suffocating everyone present " Director Goodsky, please let me lead you to the paved backyard, I think it will be very suitable for the demonstration" he finished with little 'hehe' as he was nervous would his courtyard suit the standards of the director of the best academy on the continent

Sylvie escaped the grasp of Lilia, in which she was previously confined in, and jumped on her signature place, top of my head

'Poor mister Vincent' Sylvie commented in my head which made me chuckle

Hearing my chuckle, Cynthia looked back and gave Sylv a curious look

" Is that your contracted beast?" she asked with a raised brow
