EPISODE SEVEN

John had figured out who killed Translucent. Four men and one of them he recognized. William Butcher and his team of boys.

He had called the Seven in for a meeting where he got to the bottom of it all. Starlight was dating the Hugh Campbell boy who had his girlfriend ran through by A-Train. He was convinced that Starlight was working with them but he wouldn't do anything to her.

"Alright, I won't kill you," he said after Maeve defended the young girl. "Your lucky Jane is so fucking heartbroken..."

He didn't want to make Jane even more sad. He really hated that he had to break her heart by killing Sebastian but it was necessary once he proposed.

He sighed before looking around the room at his teammates, "Great talk, everyone. You're all dismissed."

Jane was called into Vought Tower. She was talking to Stillwell as she sat in a chair in front of her desk.

"Ivy, it's so sad to hear about Stone," she said as she came inside. "Anyways, I have a little job for you..."

"What?" Jane said emotionlessly.

"We are a couple votes away from our military bill passing and one of the senators is being completely unreasonable," Stillwell proposed as she came to lean against the front of her desk. "But I've seen the way he looks at you at parties. I'm hoping you can convince him to change his mind."

Sleep with him is what she meant. She clenched her jaw as she looked up at her defiantly, "And if I don't?"

"Ivy, what do you think you're going to do? Run away and start some life without us," Stillwell argued. "Without Vought, you're nothing. Sure, you have some cool powers but you're real talent is being a pretty face."

Tears filled her eyes. Without Stone, she was nothing. She wasn't a hero. She was a face.

"Which senator?"

Jane had walked passed the Seven meeting room when John spotted her and pulled her in. He placed her in front of the screens showing four individuals.

"These are the people that killed Translucent," John revealed as his fingers drew circles on the small of her back. She looked at him as he looked at the screens. Did he just want to touch her? Was she just a body for him to hold?

"So I want you to be careful, alright?" John said. He knew Butcher would be coming after him which meant Jane was probably unsafe. He turned his head to find her eyes already on him but they were sad.

"What's wrong?" he asked in worry. "Is this about last night?"

"No," she shook her head but as she thought about it, it was. She was in a mere towel last night when tried to kiss her. He had never tried to kiss her before that. It really was just desire for John, too.
