A/N: When I uploaded last, I never would have thought such a freaking long hiatus was in store. It feels crazy to be writing anything again like I broke something and now I am trying to walk on it again. But, I am back to stay this time and to make a long story short, in the past 10 months the following happened:

1) Met and started dating my soulmate, 2) my work started giving me weekly panic attacks and mental breakdowns, 3) my grandma passed of Covid a week before Christmas, 4) one of my uni teachers gave me such a mental breakdown that I couldn't write anything up until this week and almost dropped my masters, 5) moved in together with my soulmate, 6) got Covid, 7) resigned from my job and currently looking for a new one, 8) realised I need to get back to therapy.

Soooooo really busy? TT__TT Thank you for always sticking with me, even after so long...

If you want to support me guys, remember that you can do so by buying me a ko-fi! Keep being awesome and here is the new chapter!

There was a pleasure in the pathless woods.

There was rapture in the way the trees moved with the wind, the eternal leaves silver and black yet so alive with sound. The oxygen infiltrated the knots of the fabric, reaching all the way down to your raw skin and gently caressing it with the touch of a lover. A breath of winter, in a land that remained unaltered despite the passing seasons; in the depths of the black pool within your mind, you knew that leaves and thick layers of snow rarely went together.

Yet here they were, combining in a masterpiece made of black and white.

It felt different to be outside of the lab.

It didn't smell of medicine and blood, but of the moist soil and the sharp crispness of snow. No machines existed with their mechanical sounds, only the wind and five pairs of heavy footsteps marching their way through the thick layer of snow, muffled up, persistent. The pain upon your inflamed skin had subsided and your (e/c) eyes, the only thing left of the old you, drank up the scenery with voracious hunger.

Never had you thought nature held such an arresting beauty. The light, the smell, the taste, the sound and above all else... the touch of it.

Underneath your boots, you could feel all the vibrations of your small party, of the bushes moving, of the snow crunching. Of falling twigs and a far-away creature that stalked but never dared come near; not yet at least, not while it was still bright.

'So, they are really going after the Arc... Talk about suicidal maniacs. Fucking hell.'

The voice disrupted your sensations and the static in your mind thickened with anger before snapping back like a rubber band pulled too tight. Whatever was left from your logic, dissolved the anger before it lashed out.

A snarky comment like that was not that unheard of coming through the lips of the white-masked female, but something within you knew that it was rare. Betraying her inner thoughts and the knowledge she held upon the matter.

Knowledge you needed desperately to get to the bottom of this.

'What exactly is the Arc?' you say, slight demand painting your words in an insistent tone; you had officially run out of time for pleasantries.

Tim sighed behind you, kicking the ground with his boot and sending drops of snow on his pants 'Nobody really knows what the fuck it is; might be an item, might be a place, might as well be a bloody creature. Whatever the hell it is, none other than Master quite really knows.'
