The bar was full of naval aviators, all clad in their white uniforms, decorated with different military insignias. You knew what usually happened at these kinds of events, most of your friends often disappearing to different parts of the building, to do God knows what with an eager pilot. You weren't usually the one to have a random rendezvous with the young men who often frequented the bar, but somehow your friends still managed to drag you along with them anyway.

Goose had spotted you earlier at the bar, in a deep conversation with your friend, trying to be discreet with his frequent glances that he was sending your way.

"Okay, I guess it's my turn isn't it?," Goose spoke up after him and Maverick checked out a few other ladies. "Alright, the bet is twenty dollars. Twenty dollars, that you have to have 'carnal knowledge,' of a lady this time, on the premises. On the premises," Goose emphasized seeing Maverick grin. He already had his eyes set on someone across the bar, but he wanted to have more fun with his RIO.

"How about, fifty dollars," Maverick started, seeing Goose's eyes widen at the larger sum of money. "Fifty dollars that you'll get to make a move on the chick you've been eyeing up for the past hour," he finished, seeing Goose's cheeks go red from being caught. Guess he wasn't being as discreet as he thought...

Goose glanced at you once again, this time surprised to see you glance back at him. You gave him a small smile, which shocked the unsuspecting pilot. Maverick nudged him in your direction before sneaking off to go try and catch a target of his own.

"You've been staring," you started off, with a smirk, seeing Goose's cheeks go red for the second time that night. Yet, he quickly snapped out of his embarrassment.

"So I've been caught red handed...are you going to punish me?," he said, leaning up against the bar with a smirk of his own. You chuckled at his joke making him smile that he had made you laugh. "What's your name?"

"Y/n, and you?" you replied, taking a sip of your drink.

"Y/n," he repeated, like he liked the sound of it. "Well y/n, the name's Goose," he said. You raised an eyebrow.

"Goose?," you asked him with a slight look of confusion.

"It's my callsign. I'm a pilot...my real name's Nick, but it doesn't really have the same ring to it, ya know?"

You nodded with a laugh, a comfortable silence falling between you two.

"So, y/n," he said, putting an emphasis on your name. "Whaddya say? Do you wanna dance with me?," he asked, a hopeful look on his face. You thought back to all the times you had been in this bar, blowing off pilot after pilot, who seemed to only be after one thing. But something was different about Goose. He seemed genuine and you couldn't help but be drawn to him.

"Sure," you responded, taking his outstretched hand as he led you to the dance floor. As soon as you got out there, your favorite song, "Great Balls of Fire," came blaring over the speakers. You squealed in excitement as you grabbed onto Goose's biceps.

"I love this song!," you shouted, immediately seeing a spark in his eye.

"Me too!," he exclaimed, with the widest grin you had ever seen. Pretty soon, you both grabbed onto each other shimmying away to the music.

Hours later, after countless dances together, you both found your way off of the dance floor, worn out from all of the dancing you both did.

"Well, I should probably head home. I had a really great time tonight Goose," you said, smiling up at him.

"Me too! Let me walk you home," he said, reaching to help you with your jacket.

"Oh that's okay. It's really not that far from here," you said, seeing him give you a look that you knew meant he wasn't taking 'no' for an answer.

"Please, I insist. Pilot's honor," he said, giving you a stoic salute with his hand. You laughed again, agreeing to allow him to walk you home.

The walk from the bar really wasn't a long one at all, but along the way, you both talked about a lot of things, continuing to find more commonalities between you too. Pretty soon, you came to a stop at your front porch.

"Thank you for tonight. It was really great," you said to Goose, seeing him smile.

"Don't mention it, thank you for a great night as well," he responded. Another comfortable silence fell between you both as you stared into each other's eyes, almost as if you were studying each other's expressions. You couldn't help but feel butterflies in your stomach, as you both seemed to be leaning into each other, and before you knew it, his lips were on yours. Your eyes fluttered closed as your lips moved in sync, just as you both had done on the dance floor hours earlier. When you pulled away, you both smiled at each other once again.

"Until next time Goose," you spoke first, heading towards your front door with a grin. You waved as he gave you another one of his salutes making you laugh one last time.

"Until next time...," he whispered to himself after you had closed the door. He stuck his hands in his pockets, headed back to barracks, content that he had gotten to know you, and knowing that Maverick now owed him fifty bucks.

A/n: "Goodness gracious, great balls of fire!" Ahhh, Goosey Goose. Such a cutie!
