When the day was over, the students Mystic Falls High and their family were gathered at the field tailgating for the first game of the year

Elena and Kayla walked beside each other
"Caroline's gonna hate me"

"She'll get over it. Trust me" Kayla looked at Elena who seemed to be thinking deeply when she saw Stefan from a far heading in their direction
"We'll here come Troy Bolton, im gonna go find Bonnie"

As Kayla past Stefan she greeted him motioning to his uniform"Hey Mr Fantastic, like the new digs"
"Was that sarcasm?" Stefan grinned
"Not at all...super fly"
"Bye Kayla"

With a smile on her face the younger Salvatore walked away laughing in search of Bonnie. After awhile of searching she found her stretching with some of the other girls

"Clyde hey"
"Hey? What's up?"
"Can you braid my-"
"Kayla, you know I can't braid"

Rolling her eyes Kayla sat on the matt "Seriously, it's not a complex braid"

"Put the pout away. Why didn't you swing my grams house?" Bonnie scolded
"I didn't drive"

One of the girls nearby spoke up having heard Kayla's dilemma "I can braid"

Kayla and Bonnies head snapped over to the girl with blank faces. Bonnie glanced to Kayla who was still staring at the girl in silence

"No. Thanks"

Bonnie turned away covering her face as Kayla stood up pulling her hair into a ponytail "Im gonna go find Caroline now. Bye"

Later that evening everyone stood watching Tanner give his speech
"Wait, wait, wait, Wait, wait, wait. Let's be honest here. In the past, we used to let other teams come into our town and roll right over us!"

The sound of boos surrounded the area as Tanner held his hand up
"But that's about to change"

Kayla leaned against Jeremy who was standing beside her

Across the lot Tyler who stood with Vicki scanned the parking lot looking for a familiar face when he saw her with Jeremy Gilbert
"Is that Kayla and Jeremy?"

"Yea they go together or whatever" Vicki shrugged
Tyler's face morphed into confusion as he started to make his way over to the duo

"Yo" Tyler called out as he approached the two. Kayla rose an eyebrow as Jeremy glared

"Kayla, Gilbert. What's up?" the Lockwood greets
"Hey Ty"
"Lockwood"

"When did y'all become a thing?"
"Who said we were a thing?"

Jeremy sat against the truck drinking out the bottle one of his friends brought silently watching the friends

"Vicki said-"
"Hey disrespectfully. That bitch is narts" Kayla interrupted the boy mid sentence

Making eye contact with Jeremy, Tyler squints "So long as you don't freak out and obsess over her we're good"

Jeremy scoffs "Because I needed your permission to befriend and date Kayla. Where was your permission when she and I slept together?"

"Aye now, don't bring sleeping with me into this shit" Kayla glared as she stood up to the side when Jeremy pushed off the truck and into Tyler's space

Kayla looked between the two and sighed "Fuck" as Tyler swung his fist at the Gilbert boy causing a fight to break out and Kayla to back away

Vicki ran up "Oh my God Kayla stop them!"
"Bitch you stop them. Like i'm finna hop in this fight and break it up, these dudes got anger issues Victoria"
