3rd Person POV
they sat there as they waited for their mom and they looked around the police station uncomfortably. the handcuffs had started to give them a burn and the fluorescent lights were messing with their eyes. they felt the prying eyes from everyone as they stared at them in fear. they knew who they were and they knew what they did but why were they in the police station?
"selene winter blackburn" their mother called and they sighed as they looked up at her from behind their hair
"hi mom" they whispered and she shook her head in annoyance
"first the fight and now this, i thought we raised you better than this" she said and she sat down next to selene
"yeah right" selene retorted
"excuse me?" their mother asked and they looked at her in annoyance
"i said yeah right" they breathed out and she scoffed
"we'll talk about this in the car" she spoke and selene nodded before a door opened and tory walked out
"selene" she said and selene smiled sadly
"hi tory" they exclaimed
"what are you doing here?" tory asked as she looked around the police station and felt the eyes on her too
"may or may not have hit max again" they spoke and tory chuckled
"once you're out of here do you want to hang out or talk. there's a place i want to show you" tory asked as she blushed wildly
"no no absolutely not" their mother interrupted
"actually tory i would love to" they said and tory smiled brightly
"great okah i'll see you later by mrs.blackburn" tory said and she left the police station as a door opened and he looked at selene
"come on kid" he said and they nodded as they got up with their mom and walked over into the room
"what happened?" he asked as they sat down
"well she's insane" their mother spoke and selene cut them off
"they're insane but i'm not. max is my ex boyfriend and he grabbed me without my consent, i know that i was in the school fight and i know that i should be on probation and way more but i wouldn't have done it without a reason. i promise" they ranted
"kid we have to put you on probation now" he spoke and they nodded
"see what you did" their mother stated and they ignored them
"i understand" was all they said before the cop had them stand up and removed their handcuffs
"let's go now" she spoke and selene scoffed as they pulled their arm away and they left the building
"you know i'm really disappointed, we raised you better than this" she said and selene stopped walking as they snapped their head towards her
" You raised me better than this? Dad's always gone mom and you're a therapist , you care more about your clients then your own daughter you didn't raise me okay. I was practically raised by dad's best friend and your best friends I raise my self you weren't around OK and when I needed you you weren't there" selene said
"you know that's not true?" she said and selene groaned
" What is with people and telling me what I do and don't know? You and dad care more about your job than me I don't know what you want me to say Mom but anything I do say will never be good enough for you" selene said
"i want you to say you're sorry and it'll never happened again" she spoke and selene shrugged
"well i just can't do that for you mom" they groaned
"i wish you were a better daughter then this" she stated and they shrugged
"i wish you were a better mother who listened to me but we all can't get what we want. you will never accept me and you will never love me. no matter what i do or how hard i try i will never be enough for you" they cried
"no you just won't" she spoke and selene wiped her tears
"i'm walking home" selene said and they wrapped their sweatshirt around themselves as they walked away with tears in their eyes
"selene" their mother called but they shook their head and they kept walking, turning around meant facing the wrath of their mother and facing the women who they would never be enough for
selene spent their whole childhood trying to be someone else, to be anyone else but that wasn't good enough. their mother never accepted them for anything they ever wanted to do and their mother was horrible to them. their father would've been their favorite but he was always gone and they didn't have a choice
they walked home and climbed in through their window as they stared at the ceiling
"beetle, come here" they called and their dog came bounding in with a smile on his face. he jumped on the bed and laid his head on their lap as they pet him
"hey buddy" they whispered and he looked up at them with sad eyes
"dads gone again and mom hates me. i'm on probation buddy and nothing is good right now. what do i do?" they asked and he tilted his head before he leaned it up and licked their hand
"yeah i agree, i say we lay here for the rest of the day and think about life. good idea" they said and they slid down as beetle slid forward and put his head on their chest
"you know you really are an amazing dog" they spoke and he licked their face as they fell asleep together
maybe all they needed was beetle
